Polo 1.9 Tdi 74kw DOWNPIPE

Post by FanMan »

Good Morning

I want to know if a Down-pipe on the Polo 1.9 Tdi 74kw is worth it performance wise ? Does it add anything ?

I have read online about people saying its not worth the price and its better just to deCat or straight pipe. :type:

What is you guys experience on this ?
Is a down-pipe worth the price or is it better just to deCat and Straight pipe ? And what millimeter ? 63mm ? or straight pipe from the turbo ?

Thank you :driving:

In a stock turbo there wont be any gains. Just do straight pipe and decat. Decat is much healthier for the turbo.

Agreed, decat the downpipe, which will already make the car more lively and sound pretty epic (Remember to check with a tuner so that you can remove the CAT sensor from the software, else you will have a check engine light). Then, if you want some proper noise, straight pipe it. Remember turbo's in themselves remove a lot of noise from the exhaust, acting almost like a silencer already. I have heard plenty of TDI's with straight pipes, even straight piped my own at one point with stock exhaust and then a full stainless steel 63mm straight pipe. It sounds EPIC!

If it's a polo 1.9 tdi then no changing will be needed on the software as these do not have cat sensors.

If you are under 30 years of age then straight pipe. Anything older and that straight pipe becomes boring and tiring pretty quick. Yes that saying of if it's too loud you are too old is actually true.
