DIY a scrappy jetta 4 tdi

Post by D'wayne »

Hie guys
I have a jetta 4 alh (seemingly a 2000-2002 model) which i want to get up and running despite the fact that it has been parked for quite a long time.
So i have just found out that it has a missing serpentine (alternator) belt, may someone please recommend the correct belt size for me because at the local dealership they have already given me three belts which i returned to them as they were either too big or too small.
What size is the serpentine belt ?
Thanks

I wasn't aware that there were any ALH's running in SA. I thought the Mk4 TDI only used the AHF here. Could this be a source of the confusion?

Unfortunately, the Bosch online catalogue doesn't specify serpentine belts - neither for the AHF, nor the ALH.

Yes, I know. The ALH has the same block, head, turbo etc., but slightly lower power, I think because there is a smaller piston in its VE pump.

But the actual point for this thread is, if the engines are "basically" the same, does that include the serpentine belts?

The ALH engines according to me is only available in America. So you must have an import engine in your car. Here in South Africa you only have the AHF engines.

Rather buy a good quality part that will last then buying a cheap part that won't last.
