Post by Stefan0909 »

Hi guys,

Just a quick question.

Should I use 10PPM or 50PPM on my 2012 Tiguan 2.0TDI Trend and Fun?

Th lowest ppm is always advised , but both will do no harm . I haven't noticed a difference in economy or power .

Thanx bud, paid R13.80 for a litre of 10PPM last night at the Sasol garage close to my house.

Will only fill up at that garage as it is the cheapest in the Vaal

500ppm truck diesel

My Polo used 3000ppm when I first bought it, 500 then became available, very slowly...

50ppm is reccomended for cars with particulate filters and piezo injectors as far as I know

I use both 10ppm and 50ppm in my Caddy (same motor as in your Tiggy) and don't notice any difference between the two.
I generally use 10ppm but if I cannot find it, I will fill up with 50ppm.

Not that young, 35 to be forward...

500PPM isn't that much available anymore at some garages..

I know the 500 use to make a lot of black smoke.

I would rather stick to the 10 or 50 that is the cheapest..

Here in CT, the price between 50ppm and 500ppm is sometimes more than R1/l. F@ck them, I'll put in the cheapest. My Tiguan has never smoked in it's life and touch wood, no problems in 100k km.

Ouch that is a lot. Well I see we are staring another fuel price hike in the eyes, and the government feels a flying fish for us the end consumers.

Luckily I got rid of my 1.6 petrol guzzler, the TDI is treating me good with a current fuel consumption of 5.8l/100km and that is freeway and city driving.

Would like to get it down to at least 5l/100km if possible.

No mods done on the car as yet, my ass is itching for DPF, EGR and DECAT with SW

Again, the sulpher content of the diesel has nothing to do with the colour of the smoke. When a car is pushing thick black smoke the map is very aggressive. 10ppm will look the same as 3000ppm in this scenario

Soon - within this year 500 ppm will disappear. there is no good reason for it to exist and no VW on the market needs it.

If you in Edenvale the 10ppm Sasol is usually R1 cheaper than the going rate , last was R13,78 , just before the increase

The same goes for BP and their Dischem/ Clicks club card /PNP Smart Shopper cards. Not all the garages support that initiative.
