2011 Jetta 5 1.6 TDi- Info

Post by r-hart »

Hi Guys.

Just looking for some info/advise on the above car as I'm. Interested in buying one. I want to the know the common problems encountered with these cars. I read the few threads with the polo 1.6tdi and injector problems given, are these the exact engines?

I want to buy with the intention of driving the car to 300k+ km, is this car capable of that? Without big hassles... (my G5 gti did 290k km with ease...i just maintained it well)

Lastly the 7spd Dsg box. Should I be worried as well? Thank you.

For long term use, stay away from the DSG units

Also 1.6tdis will have to have there dpfs removed and coded out once they pass around 120 000km.they start getting blocked..luckily my sedan polo 1.6tdi only came with a cat....

So that means you an just do software upgrade at the same time?

I have read on the forum. That the software makes a difference in these cars ie. The drive much better and smoother.... (less problems?)

Pricing from CPI for the 1.6TDI:

DPF removal (physical)- R1500
DPF code out on ECU- R500
SW stage 1- R3500

Many will say: "Ohhhhh my tuner is like father Christmas, when I did my SW he coded out my DPF". Code out's come at a price as it is not part of the normal SW upgrade.

With regards to SW on these motors: Don't think just do, the standard tune is crappy and will kill some major components (injectors)that will make you want to kill yourself when you hear the pricing of them to replace. If you want 300k km+, get a 1.9TDI
