2.0 TDI demeow

Post by Jetta2 »

Time to decat the Caddy.

I know the previous owner only used 50 and 100ppm diesel.
I only use 10ppm.

Caddy has Stage 1 software on it and that's it.

Where in Pta/Centurion/Midrand/East Rand would be the best place to take it for a decat?
I do not mind travelling for a decent job.

I use it daily so I can spare a few hours, and cannot leave it anywhere overnight or for a few days.
There is no DPF on this motor and the Cat sits right by the turbo outlet.

Any info highly appreciated on a place where I can phone, make an appointment, go there, get the decat done chop chop, pay and drive off?

No dodgy places or Frikkie Foose type jobs either, please.

U have a few choices:

1. Just empty the cat out +- R1k
2. Complete Downpipe 63mm +- R2850
3. Cut out the cat and weld on a straight piece or bend back - not sure of price

The above prices are from powerflow midrand, takes approx. 4hrs for a downpipe.

If u want to go ahead with that, speak to Dino there tell him u was quoted by Ashveer, any problems call me 0742216363

Powerflow abit pricey, I know

Yes and wait for 5 hours before the car even gets touched. No thanks. He won’t do the work himself. He will get someone else to do it. I let “him” fit my cupra bushes. The guy that fitted them couldn’t align the subframe on the one side so he got the bolt more or less located and used what look like gear box parts to take up the spare space. So ya trever will never touch my car.

Just take it to an exhaust place remove the DP bash out the meow material and refit with a new gasket shouldn’t cost more than a few hundred bucks. You wouldn’t essentially only be paying for labour to remove the DP and not workmanship and materials. Meantdi (marco) did this with great success

If you decat the TDI's, do you need to do software on it as well to confokulate the ECU to tell it that the readings is the same?

If it doesn't have a sensor monitoring it, I don't see how a fault could be logged. Every 1.9-2.0 Pd tdi that has removed the cat hasn't logged any fault after having it removed. But again those vehicles didn't have a sensor monitoring it. A possible logged fault can happen when the EGR is blanked off or deleted.

Maybe panic can point you in the right discretion to have a physical look. Personally what I would try do is what Meantdi did on his sportline. He didnt cut the cat out and replace it with a straight piece of pipe. His words "I just bashed all the material that was inside, then fitted the pipe back". This will retain the look of the exhaust system.

I would try do this with the DPF if possible.

I'm thinking of doing the same, but my main concern with that is, will the lamba sensors still work properly in the sense of, readings will be the same, so no need for sw

You will have to have it codded out no matter if you completely remove it or "bash" it out.

I don't think the sensor that monitors the DPF is a Lamba sensor, I could be very wrong thou.

Best bet would be is to just do it and see what happens. How many K's is on the car? I ask because your cat might also need to come out. higher mileage diesels should have then removed as they do clog up.

146000km on it. I want to keep stock pipes, just want to remove the junk inside the cat and dpf
