Good day guys
I am looking at replacing my 9N (96Kw) timing belt. Of all the youtube vids I have watched, all the engines was pulled out of the cars. Is this really necessary to take the engine out?
2. I am going to do a oil, filter and fuel filter service tonight, as well as replacing the alternator/power-steering/AC belt. Is there anything funny to look out for, or is it a straight forward belt replacement and re-tensioning?
Thanks guys.

Re: 9N 1.9TDI Timing belt replacement
No need to remove engine. U havto remove the engine mounting though and then there is more than enough spaces.
Service is straight forward, after changing the fuel filter the car will swing for a minute or 2, or u can prime the filter using vcds or the key of and on like a thousand times

I wouldn't attempt the cambelt DIY unless you have the correct tools etc, easy to get the timing slightly out
It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...

I agree..
Timing tools and a scan tool is a must have or u will end up with a syncro angle like this..
