Geeez
That belt has seen better days, out of curiosity though how many kilos did it cover?

Yasis!
The notion with many mechanics regarding the serpentine/aux belt is that because it cant damage any engine parts when broken, they only replace it once broken.
Also , It's doesn't form part of any of the service schedules so it goes forgotten till the day it makes a noise or breaks.

Well, this particular Fiesta has 240k km on the clock, it's been pretty well taken care of aside from the rekt serpentine belt.

Re: When maintenance ain't yo thang...
At 270000km (more or less) the alternator pulley/clutch/one way bearing thingy climbed off and together with the serpentine belt waited for me in the engine bay until I made it home...
That belt looked much better that the one above...
I replaced the belt, pulley and tensioner.

Agree which does not make sense at all.ICE King wrote:Yasis!

Another thing that i dont understand is why would dealers replace have schedule item e.g air filter to be replaced every 30 00km instead of 15 000km.
I am impressed with the oem belt that came with the car new and I removed it yesterday to inspect it has 1 or 2 cracks that have formed which impresses me with the life span as the car has 175 000km.
