Golf 5 2.0 TDI Sportline DSG service

Post by DJ7 »

Hi All,

My Golf is due for the 255 000km service. Going to take it away to have it done, but was just wondering, what is supposed to be replaced at this service interval. Just so that I am a bit more clued up when taking it away and don't get "hit over the head". This is my first diesel car, so don't want to go around scratching on it just yet.

Also, if people have a recommendation for a very good oil then that would also be welcomed.

Any help would be appreciated.

First thing to do is maybe call VW and get a history update on the car- a good starting point before spending money you don't have to.

Cambelt needs to be done if not done
Water pump needs to be done if not done with the cambelt
VW spec oil (505 or 507 spec)
2000 Golf 1 Chico- CRANKCASE [Std 2.0 bottom end, head gas flowed, ported & chopped by Fastcar, 288 Estas Billet, 4-2-1 43mm Brospeed Branch, 50mm-57mm-63mm Exhaust] + THE PART (2B1 speacials) -Final power @ Autotrix 111wkw & 210wnm

2007 Velociti- WHITEWALKER [Std 2.0 bottom end, head gas flowed, ported, valve swirled, 276 Estas, 4-2-1 Branch, 57mm piping from front to back]

Hi DJ7

When last was the cambelt and DSG Service done. Cambelt is every 120k km and DSG is every 60k km . I would say if these where not done on 240k km and you dont know if they have beed done in the last 60k km you should do both.

Major engine service Which Included
Engine Oil-(VW 505.01 Spec oil for PD Engines) Shell helix HX7 AV, they come in 1Lt's only. R95 a L at goldwagen Require 5L
Engine Oil Filter - R82 at Goldwagen
Air Filter - R145 at Goldwagen
Diesel Filter - R240 at Goldwagen
Pollen Filter - R125 at Goldwagen
Cambelt with Waterpump and all Rollers. R3024 at Goldwagen
Coolant Change. Price need to check for you

Gearbox Service
DSG oil Filter - R267 At Goldwagen
DSG oil - R233 per Lt at Goldwagen Require 6L

I would also Sugest a Brakefluid change. And then just a good checkup on all other Items like brakepads, Engine mounts Ect.

Prices provided is what I paid last week for my Service, I have done all work myself. So would not know what the labour cost would be.

I hope this helps you.

Cheers

Thanks so much for the useful info. Turbo was reconditioned, head was done over, waterpump and cambelt with rollers was also done then.

So, looks like I am doing normal service, dsg service and coolant and check the rest of the car out.

No problem, I would also skip the coolant as they should have done that with the cambelt service. Unless you see that its not lekker anymore.

Seems, like it is almost that time for me again.

So, it is almost 270 000km service time. The DSG service needs to be done this time and already have the filter and oil.

So, this service, is it just:

Engine oil
Engine oil filter
Air filter (Cleaned as it tis K&N)
Diesel filter

Is that it or am I missing anything?

I am very impressed with the kilos covered.
How is the car though treating you so far even though you have owned her for over 20K kilos.

Cannot fault her at all hey. Only replaced the coolant bottle besides services. Drives really well as well. Guess I can be lucky coz of the maintenance done by the previous owner.

I only drive 2 weeks a month to work, but there is roadworks, so probably a good idea to replace it then. Coz just based on how dirty the outside gets from the dust created by the roadworks, I am sure the cabin filter would be filthy.
