Re: 280mm bolt on Brake upgrade kits for MK1 is here!!!
One of the guys on the Forum got his GT cut like that as well, the calliper carrier was forced (bend) open (support gone) leading to all sorts of issues. That is a standard Citi/Chico calliper carrier, must be thousands of them in the scrapyards. Just check your wheel clearance, reason the guys cut them is to clear aftermarket mag wheels.

Unfortunately we don't sell them slotted or drilled because it's not needed. I do track with mine and have never over heated the pads or got brake fade with ETC yellow. If the car was fatter maybe yes but the mk1 weighs nothing.

Re: 280mm bolt on Brake upgrade kits for MK1 is here!!!
I bough that kit (288 x 28) on the forum many years ago, gave me sterling service, over 100k km's, I replaced it with one of Wikus's kits a while back. I need to get the disks replaced (some engineering involved), it will probably find it's way back onto one of my Golfs, problem is that it limits you with regards to 15" wheels, the only wheels that it worked on so far are Velo wheels.

Re: 280mm bolt on Brake upgrade kits for MK1 is here!!!
hey guys
i fitted this kit to my project but im having a small issue
the disc is sitting way to close to the carrier...
ive spoken to viper about this and he also hasn't experienced this before
anybody else seen this before?
any ideas as to why this could be happening?
both sides are doing the EXACT same

Have you sorted out the wheel bearing and hub issue we talked about last night?ShafiqNC wrote:hey guys

Please tighten down the center cv nut and use the wheel bolts to bolt down the disc . If the disc is not moving true or you got any movement it will cause issues
Untill you have done this we cant go further

Re: 280mm bolt on Brake upgrade kits for MK1 is here!!!
Here comes a silly question
if your brakes overheated do you need to replace the pads? I replaced my solid disk with vented a while back and did notice better braking.
@Viper I will be calling you for a kit end of the month.

How overheated? Ive read race drivers recommend overheating new pads right after installing them.moonwillow wrote:Here comes a silly question
