Are you guys still detailing your cars?

Post by Mbuzi »

This part of the forum is very quiet. Are people still washing their cars? Any new detailers or is it still the same old guys?

Oh boy I miss Lawrence's threads :(

Ironic; visited this section of the forum hoping to see some of Lawrence's epic detailing threads.

I see he's quit the game. That's a damn shame.

I'm certainly not detailing our cars, more like speed washing :-)

Me and a few friends did a decontamination detail on our cars in December. Nothing hectic as I don't have the skill to correct

Polo got a quick wash on Thursday before we headed out for the weekend. Has probably been 2 months since the last wash. Usually give it a wash at least once a month. Got super dirty since we started heading back to office from the start of Feb.

Still playing with different products from time to time.
Just want to get to that final list of products that work well and don't cost a fortune. Don't want a garage covered in hundreds of different half-empty bottles.

The bonnet has Turtle Wax Hydrophic Sealant and Soft99 Fusso Coat on it. Did this maybe 10 months ago (can't remember exactly).

Image

Fusso FTW.

Even trying out products like DynaChem ProSolv for tar removal, etc. That stuff works well. 5L will last me forever.

Did a clay bar and iron remover decon maybe 6 months ago. Car is covered in those annoying fallout nibs again, but not sure I should hit it with coarse grade clay again. Bought fine grade clay and one of those clay sponge things, but they don't seem very effective.

Still want to get a decent polisher, but that's a ton of money right now. Can't tell in that photo, but the bonnet is all scratched up as someone dragged something across it when we were moving house last year.

So yeah I guess people are still detailing, etc, but there's more other stuff going on these days. Detailing isn't cheap and life is going to get expensive.
