Engine wash tips

Post by MichaaeelMk1 »

Howsit gents, I previously washed my engine bay resulting in coil failure. Distributor was covered as well as car was idling. Any tips on washing the engine bay without experiencing this problem again. Thanks in advance.

Cover the coil with a plastic. Make sure it’s covered well so water doesn’t get in. Then if you have a cone, I’d suggest getting it covered too and take it out cause last time I washed my engine, it had water in it. On starting the car it gave me absolute hell. And then when you’re done, if you’ve got a vacuum cleaner or hoover, blow out all the water in the plugs, dizzy until it’s dry. Plugs leads as well, just check them. Then you should be set. That’s how I wash mine all the time with no issues.

Don’t need to wash it while it’s idling either. I’ve never done that and I’ve never experienced any issues.
