Hi all, what is the largest tyre size one could fit on a VW Combi without issues?

Stock they come with 16 inch wheels, and 17 inch wheel packages as options.
I have seen 16,17,18,19 and 20 inch wheels on Kombis around here.

I have 18 inch wheels on my Caddy and it had 16 inch as standard, and it has been lowered by quite a bit from stock and no issues.

Running 18 inch 8J ET42 wheels with 225/40/18s on my Caddy and does not catch or rub any where.
Full lock left or right is perfect with no catching on the front wheel arches.

Stock ride height and 16 inch wheels:


Lowered 60mm in front and 70mm rear with 18s:


My one client has a new Caravelle (essentially the same thing as a Kombi), lowered 40mm and is running 19 inch wheels with 255/40/19 tyres and he says there are no issues at all.
