Brand New Coating Detail AUDI Q3 - 14 month Coating Update**
I often get asked about Brand new car details and what can be done to it. And often told "but its brand new and doesn't need much work" when i give my response and quote...
Brand new cars when shipped are wrapped in protective film all over to ensure that it there will be no scratches or damage to it during its journey to the dealer. Which is good until it hit the dealer warehouse. The dealers of today look for the cheapest way out, they sometimes remove these protective stickers themselves and wash the car in house or they send it to a "valet specials" where it gets hacked. Ive been through a couple of dealerships wash areas and what i can say is that your are getting a normal wash that you will get at a corner car wash, nothing special about it. Another issue is when they remove the protective wrap, they often try to rub out the sticker residue with a cloth or even finger nails which leaves a good amount of scratches on the brand new paint. But the worse is when the car goes to a "valet specialist" to get the stickers removed and residue cleaned up, they run their usual rotary with a wool mop over the car leaving buffer trail all over your brand new car. I was in the Audi Warehouse watching a mobile "valet" hack up a brand new white AUDI TT. I even showed the salesman what was being done to the car in the process as well as picked another car pf the floor and inspected it under LED lighting which showed buffer trails all over....
On to the detail ...
This particular car we specifically asked for it not to be touched by any "valet" guys. When we first saw it the stickers had already been removed nut lucky it didnt get washed or touched. It still had the sticker residue all over it. We asked for it to be left alone and took delivery with only wash being done.
Being brand new there wasnt much damage, there was a few light scratches here and there but nothing major, there was plenty of contamination on it though weirdly enough. A thorough deep clean was done followed by decontamination. A light polish was then done to remove the light damage and extract maximum levels of gloss. After polishing it received a wipedown using carpro Eraser to remove all polishing oils left behind. Being brand new we wanted to add maximum protection to keep the dark color in good condition. Generally new cars do not come with any protection layer on it and protecting a car from day 1 is key.
For this we applied a layer of CarPro C Quartz Crystal coating to the paint which darkened the color and left a deep gloss with insane reflections with maximum protection when fully cured. The front windscreen, Pano roof & rear glass were given a coat of Carpro Flyby30 Glass coating. Exterior Trim were given a coat of Gyeon Trim coating & wheels were given a coat of Gyeon rim coating.

Re: Brand New Coating Detail - AUDI Q3
I see the trucks leave East London on the N6 with many VW/Audi wrapped in plastic. Many times the plastic is full of dust and flapping in the wind......
recipe for damage.
Nice that an owner cares for it from day one.

Re: Brand New Coating Detail - AUDI Q3
Two weeks after its paint coating detail and covered with thin layer of sea spray
and dirt, the coating has fully cured and this has left and extremely glassy and
reflective finish which even a layer of dirt can't block.

Re: Brand New Coating Detail - AUDI Q3
Yearly coating Update, 14 months and still going strong, Car has also done 36000kms since the coating was done.
C quartz coating maintenance done. Car was coated last year sometime in May with CarPro C Quartz coating. Since then there was no wax / sealant applied with only a wash done every 2 /3 weeks.
There was some iron contamination that was present as well as some water spotting on the bonnet. Car parks under a carport next to a railway line so iron fallout was expected. There are some very very light marring of which only I can notice. Nothing worth polishing or worrying about.
A wash was done followed by a chemical decontamination only. Thereafter we applied CarPro Hydro touchless silica spray, this completely blew me away because its so easy to use. The beading and sheeting was instant and strong. No touching or rubbing the car was needed. Bonnet was the only area that needed rubbing to remove water spotting. Carpro spotless was used and this removed the spotting with ease. Carrpro reload was then applied to bonnet for protection.
Glass were polished then coated with 4 coats of Carpro flyby forte. Tyres and trim were treated with Carpro perl coat.
A pic taken in the sun ahows after over a year there are still no swirls or other damage to the paint.
You can't beat a paint coating for the ultimate paint protection.
