Quite a character he is
Most of what he shows in his series of videos are good but some of it leaves me feeling a little concerned, especially the way he advocates rubbing the snot out of the paint when claying
Nonetheless, worth a watch

Re: The Ultimate Detailing Guide
Indeed the ultimate detailing Guide par excellence. Indeed a man wich sees his occupation as a calling.
Thanks a million.
For the first time in my life I own a silver VW Golf 6. Previous cars were mainly white. The car is a 2010 and I have it for 5 months now. During daytime the car is mainly outdoors at my wife's school directly in the sun when shining of cause. I try to protect the paintwork with product called poly wax.
Will this at all help or can you recommend an alternative product.
Thanks in advance

I have no personal experience with this product and therefore cannot comment on its actual protective abilities.Black Widow wrote:Indeed the ultimate detailing Guide par excellence. Indeed a man wich sees his occupation as a calling.

What I can tell you though is that if you are looking for the ultimate protection, you need to have a coating applied. These will give you anywhere from 2 to 4 years protection in one application, but are obviously a lot more expensive than traditional waxes or sealants.
Next in line in terms of protection and durability are sealants. These are 'man-made' (synthetic) versions of wax, and as they are formulated in a lab, the crazy scientists are able to extended durability to a period of many months. One of my favorite sealants is Menzerna Powerlock (very easy on/off + excellent durability).
At the bottom of the list in terms of actual protective ability are waxes, which are mostly carnuba based. Whilst quality ones excel in the looks department, longevity is not usually more than a few weeks. There are of course exceptions and one that springs to mind is Collinite 845, which I have personally seen last 5 solid months.
When it comes to picking an LSP (Last step protection - either a coating/sealant/wax) the determining factors vary from person to person.
Some want looks
Some want longevity
Some want a good price point
Some want ease of application/removal
etc
etc

Re: The Ultimate Detailing Guide
Pricing for the detail itself will vary from detailer to detailer, as well as geographically. The detail itself (especially the paint correcting part) needs to be on point as once the coating is applied, whatever defects are in the paint (swirls etc) are there to stay for the life of the coating.Black Widow wrote:Awesome Appreciated.

Also you need the paint surface properly prepped to ensure proper bonding of the coating.
So you are in for the cost of a full proper detail + coating cost + application of coating costs.
As an indication, here is a locally available coating http://www.crazydetailer.co.za/index.ph ... cts_id=843 How much of the syringe is used depends on vehicle size and if only paint surfaces are being coated, or other items like wheels etc too.

Its great to know that it was an easy read - hopefully this facilitates the knowledge transfer. I really need to go search for some more snippets of info buried in some of the threads and update the initial post in this one...

I don't actually have any pics to post up....Irfaan wrote:I actually would love to see a before and after chip repair you have done sir
However....
I have a nice chip on the bonnet on my Vivo which I intend fixing up.... the car is booked in for a full detail next month so I will try and include some pics of the chip repair...
The only problem is that it is literally right on the leading edge of the bonnet, which is going to make sanding and the subsequent polishing work VERY difficult to get right... nonetheless I shall be giving it a go

Epic read. To be honest I knew very little about detailing prior to reading this. Identified some issues on my car (holograms ftl).
The work you did on the black Cupra you posted recently was amazing.
