Tail Light Tinting Spray

Howsit everyone,

I am considering buying the tail light tinting spray kit, to add a smoke effect to my tail lights. Is this a good thing to do, or should i rather spend the extra buck buying new light fittings?

If spraying the lights isn't a problem, how would i go around doing it in a professional way?

Hi,

I have used the tint spray which I bought at Autostyle. I would not recomend this spray, because it washes off after 6 months or so. Have a look at the following link, you'll see that the pictures in the beginning was taken before the spray. The pictures in the middle is with the spray, and the pictures at the end (in the scapyard) is the same lights. Look at the difference at the last pictures compared with the pictures of where the lights were newly sprayed.

Another method (which I have not done myself, but saw the end result) is to use clearcoat laquer, and mix a SMALL amount of black colour. Then spray with the clearcoat. This gives you a shiney/gloss/smooth finish. This result looked better than the tint spray for me, but I do not know how long this will last.

Just buy the smoked taillights from Goldwagon!

They're like R300 a set!

In my opinion, 90% of Autostyle's "upgrades" are cheaply made, poor quality items that WILL break either during or after installation.

I'd stay far away from them if I was you mate.

Had a look @ the pics, yeah, don't look so great after a while...

Will take a look @ Goldwagen for proper lights.

Are you talking about the BEFORE pics, or the AFTER pics

I actually did a friends car Jetta 3 with Sprayon window tint, this was 2 years ago and it is still 100%, looks like the origional jetta tint on mk3's
