E55 AMG annual service and undercarriage inspection

Post by Rascal69 »

Purchased the service items for the Merc about two months back and never got a chance to do it as we been so busy since the reopen in May.

This engine takes :
8.5L oil capacity so 2 bottles of Ceratech is needed and 7.9L of engine oil.
Plus there’s 16 spark plugs, 2 per cylinder Image

Anyways since the lift was free yesterday , I took the merc out for a drive, warmed it up and then got back and put it on the lift to start.

Opened and drained the oil from both sump plugs. Yes there’s two sump plugs to drain the oil out from Image

Everything else looked to be in good shape .

Got the car down and removed the intake. To get access to the OFH, coil packs and plugs.

Removed the old oil filter

Fitted new O-rings and filter

Cleaned any oil out from the oil filter housing before installing the new filter

Filter installed and torqued to 25nm’s

Put in both bottles of Liqui Moly Ceratech anti friction additive.

Filled up with LM Molygen engine oil

Then started removing the coils and the 16 spark plugs Image

Prepped the new plugs with copper anti seize on the threads and double checked the gaps.

I very carefully fitted the plugs by hand and then torqued them to 25nm as that’s the spec for this vehicle .
Image

After that I removed the bmc air filters , blew them clean with compressed air and refitted the intake.

Started up the car and everything sounded smooth.

Went for a 20km test drive this morning and all seems perfect . Image
