CD changer compatibility

Post by VKG »

Hi

I am in the market for a new radio system for my wife's Polo Playa. The current radio is a VW standard receiver with a VW 6 Disc cd player. Will I be able to use the 6 Disc cd player with an after market radio, for example an pioneer. The reason is that I want to use my IPOD on the radio and it appears that the current radio does not have the functionality for an IPOD cable.

Any advice?

Thanks

Hi

I would assume the polo playa is the old polo and NOT the POLO HATCH :?: If polo playa, the the factory radio would be a Grundig :D If polo hatch the factory radio would be made by Blaupunkt :D . So which one is it :?:

The Cd shuttle as used by factory could be one of two, a proper 6 disc shuttle with removable magazine to slot cd's into. ( here makes like Grundig, Blaupunkt and panasonic and i think Kenwood ARE ALL COMPATIBLE with factory radio - you only need specific harness adapter from shuttle to radio)

The IN DASH 6 disc shuttle is the modern day compact in dash mounted and aslo mounted in cubby hole / glove compartment, is apparently only compatible with the above head units and Audi factory radios. Pioneer uses a completely diff protocol and thus not metioned or compatible.

Do a search i'm sure someone here sells a ipod adapter fro factory radio's. 8)

We stock the interface for that VW so you can connect the Ipod to it. You will loose the cd shuttle though as it uses the same connection at the back of the head unit.

It will ocntrol the Ipod from the VW radio and charge the Ipod.

Give me a shout if you are interested.

The VW shuttle will only work with VW radio's. Even though it is a Blaupunkt unit, its not compatible with the Blaupunkt aftermarket radio's.
