Adding a camera to 2020 Polo GTI

Post by Larry_fisherman »

I’m looking at buying a demo Polo GTI. It has most of the features I want, except for park assist. I mostly want a reverse camera as aftermarket PDC will probably ruin the look of the car.

Has anyone fitted an aftermarket reverse camera?

What am I looking at cost wise? Can I install one myself (does the radio software need to be modified?)

Speak to Chris at Retrofitters. Pretty sure he can assist you and also maybe supply you with what you need to fit the camera.

I just ended up getting one with the full park assist package, worked out a lot cheaper. A LOT CHEAPER.

Do you mean as part of the OEM park assist?

You only need that camera unit and the control box .

I was quoted by a place in CPT for R5200 for full OEM retrofit of the rearview camera on my Tiguan.

But I first want it in writing from VW that it won't affect my warranty. No way I want to end up with DSG or turbo problems down the line and they dispute it due to a stupid camera.

Good luck getting VW to give you anything like that in writing, but they would be hard pressed to show how adding a camera could affect the DSG or Turbo.

Hi

Would you mind sharing the contact details for the shop that quoted you?
I would like to have the OEM camera retrofitted to my car.

Revving this thread for the CPT guys...

I contacted a place called Autotech Systems who said they do the retrofitting for all the McCarthy VW vehicles.

After trying to confirm an appointment and final price it turned out that their kits are not OEM, and they price confirmed via email was different to the one on the actual quote.

I ended up having an OEM camera fitted and coded via Vagtech SA and SpooledWorx
