Amp mystery (HELP)
Hi guys
I have a 06 citi 1.4i with a system consisting of a:
Pioneer GM-D9605 5 channel 2000w, Rockford R16-S 160 Watt splits,
Rockford R169X3 Prime 6 x 9 3-Way, Rockford P2D4-8 Punch 8" P2 4-Ohm DVC sub,
Pioneer AVH-200EX double din.
Now the mystery is after a month or so the power/protect light would turn red and the subwoofer stops playing while the speakers continued to play. We then checked everything we could think of including grounding, rca's, all the wiring, altenator and the battery. Now the sound to the sub is completely gone. Sub was tested and also fine.
Any help or advice will be appreciated

Re: Amp mystery (HELP)
Hi more than likely the channel for the amp is blown, I recommend taking it to a Rockford agent, they will send it into Rockford to get it repaired. I had the same problem and it cost me R450 with tranport

I forgot to say that it played for about 2min before the sub would stop playing and the power/protect light would turn red.heidenrich wrote:Hi guys

Re: Amp mystery (HELP)
How did you wire the sub, in series or parallel? If it’s a dual 4 then you are either running it 8ohm or 2 ohm. Make sure the amp can handle the impedance you are using.

Re: Amp mystery (HELP)
Agree with jaredm.
I think the p2 is a dual 2ohm. How is it wired up?
U are probably overloading the amp. Can the amp not be bridged?

When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on

Re: Amp mystery (HELP)
Wire it in series and see if that makes a difference.
