Polo Vivo Sound Advice

Post by Hansnmuller »

Hi all, recently got a 1.4 Polo vivo concept line, and I'm looking to install a subwoofer and amp. I'm looking for some ideas as to what sub and amp to go with. I live in PE.

Looking to get solid bass for listening to reggae and rock music, my desire isn't to have my whole car rattling, want it to just add to the music. Was thinking an Amp with a high level input would be a good idea as I've installed a LOC in a friend's car and the wiring was crazy. Also open to 10inch subs as I need to keep as much boot space open as possible. Willing to do the install myself looking to spend about 2500 on the sub, amp and wires.

So far I've been looking at the pioneer stuff, the digital design subs the sell at hifi Corp as well as a JBL combo from SoundMatch, however I'm not sure how trustworthy they are and whether it'd be cost effective to ship.

Also finally, would you advise that I put a set of speakers in the rear doors or am I better off using the money to upgrade the front ones down the line.

I apologise for my lack of knowledge, all I've worked with so far are simple speakers and a HU in my old Fox, and a Star Sound set up my my friends vivo.

Tia

I'd consider JBL or DD setups.

My friend's got a digital design sub in his car and i'm pretty impressed at how it performs, only heard good things about them.

I have a 12" Pioneer champion series 950w svc (almost 10 years old),280w pioneer mids in rear doors that is running off a Targa ta-4200 4ch amp in my vivo. I'm happy with the result of the setup, very impressed with this little amp aswell. I paid R529.00 a year ago @ Autozone, and 2 weeks ago i saw they had it on a special again, this time for R599.00. So I sold my monoblock and bought another targa amp for my jetta. I see these amp are being sold by soundmatch/autostyle for R900.00

I'd say invest in a set of splits for the rear, because if remove the sub from my car the speakers alone just ain't doing it for me. A 10" sub gives nice bass, so yuo would nt go wrong with it, I just wouldn't buy these off the shelve boxes, some just dont perform as nice.

So you can get a decent sound setup if you do some searching,Hope this helps

My advice would be,

Get a decent split system at the front, a set of mids for the rear doors, run that alone from one amp 4 channel. The gains can be set that there is no bass on the in car speakers, you use them for treble. Make would be you own choice and to what you can afford.

Go with another amp 2 channel mono block, and run a 10" Pioneer, a DVC gives a bit more better bass quality.

This setup would cost you a bit, but the quality is not compromised.

Here is a few links to give you an idea on prices from Autostyle

I had this setup in my Peugeot, with the standard touchscreen factory fitted radio, and the clarity was great
