4 channel Ampifier recommendations
Hi Guys
I am doing some research on what amplifier to purchase for my Amarok Sound install.
Budget is approx 2k. I am looking for a 4 channel amplifier to drive the following:
- A set of Kicker 6.75 inch splits (rated at max 100w rms) these are 4ohms
- a single 8 inch Kicker CS Series SVC subwoofer (rated at 200w rms) - sealed enclosure
The head unit is a pioneer AVH-205BT.
I am currently using a Star Sound amp that was given to me but it does not seem to coping - protection light is flashing and channels cut off intermittently.
I want to use a single amp to reduce space as well as battery power requirements.

Re: 4 channel Ampifier recommendations
I used to have a Kicker CX300.4 running Audison APK165 splits and a Kicker CompRT 8 inch sub in the Caddy and had no issues with amp power.
I have changed up the amp and sub, though, to something with more oomph.

Re: 4 channel Ampifier recommendations
If it was me, I would choose the Infinity. I have not used that particular amp before, but have had three other Infinity amps and they make good power and have very clean sound.

Re: 4 channel Ampifier recommendations
Thanks dude, does the Pioneer not have advantage over the Infinity in that it is a digital amp?

Re: 4 channel Ampifier recommendations
The Infinity is also a digital amp. Any amp that has "Class D" in the specs means it is a digital amp.

Re: 4 channel Ampifier recommendations
Ok I think I'm down to the Infinity Vs the kicker.
How do I make the decision guys. Has anyone heard that digital amps are known for distortion and can sound scratchy in the midrange? Is this true?

Re: 4 channel Ampifier recommendations
Do you have any opinions about this amp as yet? Please post an update when you can, ive been thinking of getting the same amp to power infinity splits and a 10" kappa in 3ch mode. Hoping its loud and clean.

Re: 4 channel Ampifier recommendations
Hi guys
So have had the amp installed and it sounds very good. The sound is nice and clean and the amp doesn't seem to draw too much battery power. It's powering the kicker splits on of crossed at 80hz with the gain just under half way. It doesn't get very hot, kind of stays at a warm temperature during usage. It's quite heavy physically and feels very solid. I prefer but some others may not. It's not the smallest amp, at around 35cm in length but looks very good. Even at this size it fits comfortably behind the Amarok back seat, with space left for the emergency kit as well tool set. I also like the way the speaker and power terminals have a hidden/concealed arrangement, this makes the wiring connections much neater.
In terms of powering the sub, I feel the sub could have a little more kick especially at the lower frequencies, the bass is very tight, but I'm not sure if that's a sub, amp or enclosure problem. I'm leaning towards enclosuure/ sub though. This is subjective though as I have never heard a single 8 inch play in a double cab before.
So overall the sound in the Amarok has been nicely enhanced, the only weak point I hear now are the rear door speakers which are still stock, il probably change these in time but for now they will have to do.

Re: 4 channel Ampifier recommendations
Ok so i can second that for anyone wondering about this amp. Got it for a week aswell and it brought my infinity splits to life. It stays cool even when driven hard and looks gorgeous. Nice clean power there.
