No idea
Never had it before this
My main issues are the lack of non-Apple apps like Waze and not being able to see things like my music or phone book in the cluster display.

Oh that's all visible etc
No idea about waze I don't use it
So no more having to control everything through the radio? I just get an error message on the cluster that Apple CarPlay is being used so everything has to be controlled through the radio which makes the cluster and steering wheel controls somewhat redundant.

I'll look at it tonight
I don't pay attention to all that stuff lol
Cool, thanks bud, besides having to have my phone connected via cable to use CarPlay, it is dangerous to have to use the radio the entire time for things I am able to do via the cluster when connect via Bluetooth.
Yeah, Carplay is kak.
I prefer Android auto, for Google maps and you still can use bluetooth with the phone plugged in.

But I use the radio rather then the dash for music anyway
But the steering controls change tracks etc so barely bothered tbh

Thanks bud A pity though, having to take my hand off the steering wheel to access my music or phone, as well as taking my eyes off the road, is not safe at all.

The latest update for Waze adds support for CarPlay, according to the application’s App Store page.
This allows users who have updated to iOS 12 and are running the latest version of the navigation app to use Waze on the built-in screen in their vehicle.

Unfortunately, I was 100% correct, Apple Carplay in my MkVII Golf is still no where near as good as simply using Bluetooth and the standard MIBII radio interface. Using Waze on the large touch screen is really good although it not being at eye level is distracting but the biggest issues still remain, like the steering wheel controls and the phone and music menu in the dashboard cluster are rendered useless. I also discovered this morning that if I want to make a call to someone but still have Waze open to follow a route, I simply can't as when I try go back to Waze CarPlay just cuts the call. When my girlfriend called me back after the call was cut, I couldn't hear her at all despite her being able to hear me, so I had to cut the call and call her back to be able to hear her. All in all, Apple CarPlay in a VW at least, is useless...
I just tried CarPlay in a colleagues MkII Tiguan which has the new Discover Pro radio, Active Info Display and HUD and the same issues persist with not being able to access either your phone or media using the steering wheel controls via the Active Info Display.
However, the addition of Waze on IOS12 has changed my life. I don't mind not seeing the song names in the hud as the steering controls still change the music and as i jump in, i choose a playlist and shuffle through.
