Pleasure,
No need for extra modules , launch Control can be codded into the OEM Ecu at the same time while doing the tune. :hurray:

Will have a look into that. Do you think with 90k budget I can get engin with all the mods and tune installed and ready to run?

Easily with the existing motor , all depends on the current status of it.

If all looks well , and you can tune it over by hand , I would check timing , do a oil, filter service , through it some juice and start the motor?

Unless you know it's damaged internally? whats the current mileage on the TT.

The old motor is totally busted. Guy drove the car without oil. And somewhere round 200km/h he siezed the motor. So I don't want the old one. Will have to put in new one. About 80k km on the car.

Eish , ok so you'll need a Drive By wire 1.8t replacement motor (AUQ,AUM - 132kw) or the BAM, AMK (165kw/154kw)

You'll need to check what your current engine code is and make a decision from there as you'll need a retune if putting in a different motor, then I would first get the car up and running with the replacement motor - Just to protect you with the guarantee that the motors come with.

If you not worried about the guarantee and considering you'll be replacing injectors , rod's,turbo , doesn't matter which motor you choose of the above although I would suggest the latter.

There was a BAM in there. So wil go with that one again. According to earlier posts that would set me back about 40k for a running motor. Then I have 50k left to do all the mods. Thought about putting in the motor and just get it running again so I can get it roadworthy again. When that's done it will have to go back for all the mods. Not worrying about any warranty or guarantee.

Agree , I would get it up and running with the replacement motor first,

Umm....50k for mods is doable , let's see:

Rods - 10k
Turbo & Manifold - 10k (depends on turbo brand)
Downpipe - 3k
Injectors - 4 -5k
Intercooler & piping - 6k
SMF Clutch - 6k
Fuel pump?
Tune - ?
Labour?

You can recoup some funds from selling the old turbo , injectors etc.

Contact Thanas here on the forum.

He's based in Capetown and is probably the closest to you geographically.

He's very good with the 1.8T's, as mentioned in a previous post, and should be able to help you with sourcing and sorting out your motor. Mike's Place is a well known engine importer in Capetown, also worth a call.

Performance Engine parts are most likely bought here in Jhb, depending on what it is.

To save on some of the cost, perhaps look for a decent independent workshop in you local area that can help you do the more mundane things, like installing the motor and getting it all plugged in.

I think your budget will be more than adequate for a stock engine install and some mild preliminary mods.

Again let Thanas guide you with this.

Thanx missioner. Jhb is actually closer to me but will contact Thanas. There is a shop close to me who don't specialise in this but I know the guy and he build his own caddy. Was north vs south champion for a couple of years. With all the info I got here and his knowhow I may just give him a try if I don't find something in Bloem or Gauteng.

I wouldn't trust the workshops here in Bloem. Rather stick with the known guys in Gauteng instead. 50k is more than enough to achieve your 300kw goal. I went big turbo on my 1.8t and spent roughly that amount, maybe less.

Here's an idea of my rough estimates.

Injectors R2k
Turbo R2300 from Mr Turbo
External wastegate R1700
S3 MAF R1500
Manifold/Dp R5k
Rods, got lucky with a set from Gw Delarey for R2k
Motor parts (headbolts, pistons, gaskets, bearings and other stuff) R10k
Clutch R2300
Flywheel R1500
Labour and engineering R9k (had to line bore my head since the cam caps broke)
Other sensors R5k
Tune (depends who you go with) between R3500 and R6k)

Some of the stuff I managed to source used which helped out a lot with saving some cost.

My car was done at Kinetic Garage in Durban. Thanas will probably be able to build and tune your car for you.

If Gauteng is closer then also have a chat to Panic Mechanic.

He and Thanas also work together with the tuning. Ask @Trishen94, he had his car tuned recently by them.

Panic is also an expert engine builder, building race engines for many years and many boosted 1.8T's.

Panics number is in the advertising section.

@ ICE King, upgraded fuel pump definitely recommended when you get to the 300kw mark.

@ Johanr, 90k budget should be enough. Are you planning to do most of the work yourself? Can save on labour costs.

Panic and Thanas combined is a winner.

Found BAM motor in Capetown. Paid for and on its way to Postmasburg. The mechanic who took out the old engin and where the car has been staying for the past 4 years made a fuckup. When I went to pick up the car it was an APX and not BAM. I have a friend who was a VW mechanic for a couple of years and he said he will help me ge the motor in. Just don't know what the ECU going to do. Been trying to get hold of @Thanas en @Panic but they haven't answered back. So for the next week I will just be waiting for the engin.

Will take a look how to upload photos. Stil a noob.

Will need a remap for sure.

BAM is 225hp and ARX is 150hp, BAM has Ko4 and ARX Ko3s turbo, down pipe may need some alterations. Both have vvt and small port heads, but I think the throttle body is on opposite sides. You can swap them over. You will only know when you put the motors side by side.

May have some small differences between the surrounding fitted items on motor, but you have the old motor.
