Germany vs Japan Killarney 15th July - Cpt

Post by Howie-WP »

Germany Vs Japan Press Release

It’s been a long time in the making but finally the time has come. The 6th annual Germany vs Japan, and unlike there foot-balling counterparts, the Japanese street “Zoku”(Gangs) are ready to fight back.
We’ve seen it on the streets, GTI vs VTEC, WRX STI vs M3, now see it, and be part of it on track.

On the 15th of July, all the banter, all the debates, all the bragging will be decided in a day of drags, gymkhana and drifting. Claims of 10 second Citigolfs and Kadetts will finally be put to rest. The GTI club will be organizing a day of driving, sound offs and park offs. For Duitsland we have regular quick cars like Herman Manke, Ken Addison and Jan Nel, For this one event, traditional arch enemies VW and Opel join forces to take on the cars from the Land of the raising Sun. For the pride of Japan, we have Niven in his ultra quick Sunny GTI-R, Niyaaz Modack’s Toyota and ofcourse the hoards of Civic Vtecs driven by guys like Shaun Fairburn. Of course there’ll be other regulars battling each other in the 12,13,14 and 15 second brackets. Looking to go that little bit quicker and add that extra point that could swing things in their camps favour. Remember guys, this is a team effort, so every point counts, does not matter what you drive, every car scores points for the country of origin.

We have extended invitations to the Subaru Club, Nissan / Nismo Club, TRD Club, Honda Club / Hondaboys , Team Dragon, Xtreme Veedubz, Opel Owners Club and Zoopedup to all enter cars to make this a showdown of note.

The Sound-off

At the Karting circuit we will be having an SPL Sound Off. For more information contact Quadruphonic Security and Sound on 982 6842/3/4 or Fax 982 6812. Alternatively you can pop in at their premises at 18 Pisces Crescent, Brackenfell Industria. Entries are R50

The Park-off

For all you bling blingers out there, this will be the time to show off your polished rims, and lowered rides. Shaved doors, 18” wheels and blinged out cars will be the order of the day at the karting circuit. Streetconceptz will be handling the parkoff side of things, for more information contact Bob on 0839482858.

Another change to the event will be the “Morning runs” Each dragster will be allocated 3 runs for the morning session. Once the driver completes all 3 runs, he will have to wait till after lunch where the strip will once again be open to all. This will allow drivers time to pop around at the gymkhana and test their driving skills around the oval. More importantly, it gives all drivers the opportunity to do at least 3 runs for the day.

The Gymkhana will kick off at 9:30am with practice running till 11am. The format will be a little different to what we’ve become used to. The GTI Club’s infra red, ultra accurate timing equipment will be used for the event.

At the end of the day the action continues with drifting and burnouts. If you’re into tyre smoke and car control, stick around, because there’ll be plenty to keep the crowds and fellow competitors entertained.

Cape Town street racing is growing stronger and stronger with every event. This years Germany vs Japan promises to be one of the biggest events of this year, from Tazz to Twincam Turbos, Cubs, Citi Golfs to M3s, expect them all.

Adults ticket prices are R30 while junior under 16 are R10 and if you are under the age of 12 you enter free of charge.

Coming soon: 20th Annual GTI Jamboree

29th October sees the GTI club put together yet another GTI Jamboree. This one is geared towards track racing so the 5 lap race will once again be part of the action. The 5 lap race consists of 3 timed laps 2 in/out laps. The time will come to settle the scores and this event really does separate the men from the boys, the girls from the gals when it comes to sheer driver skill. Girls like Nashrene Schloss have been known to show the boys how it’s done around the circuit and GTI Challenge drivers will be on hand to give tips on driving and technique.
Ofcourse the drag strip and gymkhana will be the main attractions so don’t forget those helmets and long sleeve tops!

See you on track
