Tuning Day - 15 July 2006

Post by Life-GP »

Stephan (Panic-mechanic) has very generously offered to hold us a tuning/dyno day again. The charge for the Dyno Tune wil be R500. He will show us all how it is done, answer all of your questions relating to the do's and dont's of tuning, and have a general discussion on how things are done. This promises to be a very interesting and educational day.

So bring along your carburettor (non-sidies), K-jet, Management etc... car along and lets see how many ponies he can get out of it. I will supply a laptop, please just bring the software for your management with so that we can load it on. We wil try to get other Vendors there to show off their products and explain them as well. Time permitting, we can also maybe do some dyno runs on cars that are not being tuned.

Those who want their cars tuned, can contact me directly.

This event is FREE for spectators (even if you ask questions :P )

From Panic:

1) if somebody has an MP 9 car I will offer you an SMT6 chip at cost. Will install it there and tune it at no extra cost other than the R250 for the dyno usage. Owner can contact me and I will dicuss cost of the chip off board - obviously don't want to put that here.
2) I can maybe see if somebody with a PRS equipped car would let us show you guys what it looks like and do a re-tune on the dyno.
3) I can do one carb car as long as it is NOT sideys - takes way too long to set up.
4) if somebody wants to bring another make of EFI along like mr turbo I'll tune 1 but you must supply a laptop with software.
5) Getting a K-jet car would be good and I'll run through the basics of how the system work - tune it and talk about the cold start devices which are problematic.

Date : 15 July 2006
Time: 08h00
Venue: KAR (Kempton Automotive Engineering)
Directions: If you come from PTA - get on the Kempton - airport highway - R21 I think. You will get the Kempton Turnoff or airport freight. at the robot turn right and go to the far left lane. There is another robot
and a slipway to the left. Follow that slipway and the road goes
downhill(albatros road). You get a robot - over that one and at the
next robot Turn right into pretoria road. At the next robot turn left
into Plane road. KAR is on the corner of Plane and Green.

If you are coming from Roodepoort side take the offramp for Kempton park/edenvale - just after london road. There is a garage on your left and a circle - go out the circle at 270 degree and towards edenvale. There is a toyota dealer on the leaft. Turn left there into Modderfontein road or the R25. You will get 4 robots and then see a turnoff for Kempton park/Isando/Bronkhorstspruit. Take this and it will bring you around and onto Zuurfontein road. The next Exit is Kemptn park(CR Swart road) - pass that - you will get a set of robots(be carefull here - stick to the speed limit - they often trap before this robot) Over that robot and at the next robot (Plane road) turn left. There is open veld on your left. The road becomes single and double again - at the first robot(Green ave). KAR is on that corner to your right

I can supply u with 2 of the required categories namely a PRS2 and a K Jet both begging for a tune' but given my current financial position there's no way I can fork out a R1k to have it done :(

Unless u ask REVO or Dimsport to be there (and pay them), u are going to stuggle to get your car tuned.

Frieling Racing Chiptuning

Post by Chicosaurus »

Hi

Frieling Racing will be at the Garage day on Saturday.

We will have all our tuning equipment available and will demostrate it on a 160i Astra. We will go through the tuning process and show how we tune normally aspirated cars.

Thanks to Craig & Stefan for the opportunity. :D
