VWCSA presents #DubRun2k18

Post by Ian_F »

Better late than never, welcome to the official DubRun thread for 2018!!!

Image

While the last few years have been absolutely jam packed with action, we thought we’d slow it down a bit and take advantage of the short weekend to enjoy a chilled stay in Durban.

We have been discussing co-hosting an event with Cum Laude at Brighton Beach, but due to some municipal regulations, this has been moved to a later date.

So we’ve decided to go back to our original plan.

DubRun2k18, Back to Basics 101!!

We cordially invite you to join VWCSA on our epic journey to Durban. Thursday evening we will meet up at an undisclosed location to prepare cars and collect registration packs. Make sure you tick the WhatsApp group selection to stay informed on where TapeUp will be. Prizes will be awarded for the best taped up cars, proudly sponsored by RetroFitters KZN and R&D Performance.

Of course, you can use all of your imagination to prepare your vehicle for the trip, but more emphasis will be placed on Taped cars.

Friday morning the epic journey begins as we leave from the Petroport in Johannesburg for the 580km drive. We will stop at Harrismith for a leg stretch and to fill up some very thirsty cars and passengers.

We finish the drive entering Durban, where the rest of the day will be at your leisure. No final end point in Durban.

Saturday is the big day, and we return the phenomenal Hazelmere Dam. Here we will host a chill and grill, and judge the DubRun cars for each of the categories, as well as our Tape Up prizes.
Make sure you attend to be in the running for the prizes.

The club will provide braais, music and refreshments, feel free to bring your gazebos, camping chairs and some meat to crucify on the hot coals!

We spend the morning and early afternoon here, before departing for prize giving at the now traditional Beach Bums party.

And that’s it....

No frills, no fuss, just you, your VW and the best club in the world!

Dates:

Tape Up - 14 June

DubRun - 15 June

Hazelmere - 16 June

Depart - 17 June

This year registration will be limited to 150 vehicles, for registration packs. Of course, you don’t have to register, however, Hazelmere costs as well as Chill n Grill costs will be charged if you choose not to register.

Registration cost: R350 per vehicle.

Included the pack will be the traditional blue tape and decals as well as the DubRun2k18 t-shirt.

Thanks to our sponsors (so far) RetroFitters and R&D performance!

REGISTRATION FORM

More to follow....

Peace

Awesome guys!

How is the entrance and driveway into Hazelmere Dam? Will be my first...

And since I'm on coilovers instead of bags... Will be good to know.

The driveway itself is fine. Good surface. Roads leading to the damn have pot holes, but are fine to drive at slow pace.

Problem is the first 2 speedhumps. I couldn't avoid scraping my MK6 (coilovers, not belly down) no matter which way i cut those humps. There are cement pillars on the sides of 1 of them i think, so you cant go around.

Perhaps some more recent recon is required though.

Most people will book accommodation in Ballito as it’s the most central every year. Umdloti has some nice spots too though
