Thanks
Because tyres are not cheap.., i killed a brand new set at this event last year..M3THANOL wrote:I'm going to throw this out there as it is something I have been looking at and thinking about over the past few years. Why do so few actual club members take part in the circuit type events (gymkhana)? Are a lot of guys not confident in their driving abilities? Because when there is a drag day, then everyone and their gran will attend
Even if you aren't the best in the twisties, why not just join in and have some fun, at the end of the day that is the main thing, that you have a blast

Pfffttt. Plenty traction you just have a heavy foot for a small guy.
I tried feathering the throttle ... sometimes .
Didn't help much so I thought screw the times ill just enjoy the drifting.
Definately found more traction on the way home.
I made sure i was light on the throttle and there was plenty traction
This and also the punishment a car takes. Remember on a FWD you're putting all the power through the wheels and also turning with the same wheels, CVs take a beating. If your car isn't in good nick to start with you can easily kill a clutch, and if your brakes fade out on you, body damage can occur.M3THANOL wrote:Are a lot of guys not confident in their driving abilities?

After reviewing the lap times times, your light throttle action definately shows up. No wonder you found all that traction.

Yup, everything literally polished off. Just "kissed" the tires.Uncle Nunda wrote:corne is jy oriteracingfreak wrote:Are those timea for combined lap starting from left and right?
You were very quick on your 1st lap, one of the quickest for the day! Your second lap you also didnt pass the cones, but we gave you a time in any case. I reckon you might have given the Scooby a go!racingfreak wrote:Yup, everything literally polished off. I guess that second lap didn't help my time
You might need to get the golf completed quicker than you thinkViper wrote:This is my favorite event format and yes it takes some out of the tires , but the track is slippery and the car tends to side rather than grip so less tire wear compare to Kyalami or even Zwartkops main circuit. Most of us are willing to go fast through traffic over potholes and around corners with side walks, but they are not willing to test their skills around a small track with relatively low speeds totally controlled. That is one of the reasons i took my Touareg around there just to see what it can do and of course it was mega fun
Next year i want to compete for fastest time in the golf with fwd so lets see how that turns out
