Its always fun to see the kart times etc.. Think it will need a very special class to be fair or race car class?

Unfortunately we cannot allow any sort of bikes as it is way to dangerous and we are not willing to take the chance no mater how legally binding the indeminity form can be.

Just to be sure, other than the helmet, is it long sleeve shirts and closed shoe dress code?

No just helmets but we would advise long pants & closed shoes for added safety.

I havn't done the Hillclimb for a few years.

I'm thinking I should come through and have some fun.

I know I would be no where near the front but would like to beat my best time. Think it was a 52 seconds odd. Way off the pace.

Really hope I don't stick it in a wall or damage anything.

I'm just going to put it out there.

Am I the only one who feels quattro cars should be in their own class ?

I personally would rather go against big turbo cars of same type than Quattro on a tight twisty pass ?

Wine over :)

Looking forward to seeing & meeting some new faces and many old ones :)

The classes will be too stretched, So consider it a challenge to beat a 4wd.

Ps. You will be in the Open class with all sorts of cars since you are no longer a member.

You start at the bottom of a hill and drive to the top of it as quickly as you can. There are a few turns as well to make it interesting. I think the track is just over 1.5km or so. Lots of fun.

Current Rides:
2008 SEAT Leon Cupra - Banshee

Exes:
2006 Polo 9N3 - 1.6i
2003 Citi.com 1.3
2003 Opel Corsa Lite

Yup, open class. 1st time ever. Doesn't mean that the class isn't very wrong in my opinion.
I haven't seen times from the last year but remember on my last outing the R's were around 4-5 sec's quicker than I was on the hill and that was when they were slow on the 1km. Now they are fast on the 1km and have Quattro in the corners. Other than economy those R's are awesome :driving: And yes. I'm sure my driving did have a lot to do with it

I remember the days when the turbo charged class was open. I came 2nd and got beaten by a car that had double my power.

I had 130wkw in a mk1. He had 250wkw in a polo. But he finished only one second faster at the end of the day.

I recon a properly worked K03 will be quicker any way than a K04. Gets in boost earlier and generates a load of midrange torque. Just what you need going up this little hill. LS diff and semis if warm would also be of great benefit.

It will be fun...and scary. But I just want to have some fun

The reason I left the club.

I used to love being a member of this club. But that changed after I brought extra people to an event to enjoy the day. Got their early was 3/4rth person there....with my mates. Then get told later that I'm jumping queues and allowing my friends in the and showing favoritism.
People getting rude and throwing insults and threatening what am I going to do about it !!
Even when there is a number system and they refuse to move their car when mine is clearly 20 numbers lower than theirs. All "my mates" cars were also lower numbers.
Seeing people with their boots open and drinking in public showing the world what a wonderful club we have please come join as we set a great example.

I never used to bother with stuff like that. It never phased me. Each to their own.
But now I don't want my son & daughter to think that's how we should be setting an example. Perceptions change with time I guess.

So I'll see how things go. Hopefully this event will change my mind. The first one for me of the year. Hopefully my wife and kids come through and one of my mates in his MPS. Should be a good day out :driving:

I love modding and dubbing and the general scene. Getting back into it more recently. :hurray:

I think you will be pleasantly surprised on how things get done lately.

The last 6 events I've attended have been really cool.

And enjoyable. And fun.
