Tander, you do realise that we can't have track days every month right? Have you seen prices that these places charge? We need to have events that enables us to make some money to be able to have track days.

Whats the point of your post Tander? you said you were gonna be leaving the club anyway, so why you worried whether an event caters for you or not?

I don;t take part in many dyno days, but still go with to get to know the members, and to have a good time with Friends...

@ VWicked - Please show me where I mentioned a track day?
VWCSA can only do one track day a year, due to the extremely high costs involved - yes, I know we can't have these days every month.

My point is this: A Dyno day has been done to death. We all know more-or-less what our cars make. So, let's do something different!

I realize it is difficult to cater for everyone - but at least have something where we're in the car, enjoying it and not on a dyno - last dyno was at DubRun - one before that was at Edenval, one before, Panic's if I am not mistaken?

Seems like the club is out of ideas etc (May also be due to prices, booking, etc ) so the default option is - " Dyno - that's easy to get setup"

Here are some ideas off the top of my head. (Yes, I realise it's too late to caste a useless, ignored vote - but still! )

1. VW Logo day - Take a nice drive to the Vaal or somewhere with a big ass field. Do the whole VW -car-logo-thing. Have lekker braai, relax and enjoy each other's company, I know it has been done before - but when was the last one??

2. Paintball - I'm sure a lot of guys would love to do this! I don't think the club has done this event before?

3. Charity run of some sort - it's still going to be cold for a few more weeks - why not donate some old clothes, blankets etc while doing a nice drive (Semi-breakfast run)

4. Skid pan, Gymkaya (spelling? ) - I know bookings could / are an issue, but did we actually try get a skid pan even in? Or was it a last-minute after thought? (I am asking here, not saying that it was)

Last point: If bookings are an issue - why not book a month or two ahead of time? I am sure guys wouldn;t mind paying their bit now for an epic event in two months time or whatever?

Sorry but Dyno-Day sucks the worse. We have had two or three already this year.

@ - Puni - Answer above.
@ - Sparkz - I said I was thinking about leaving the forum, not the club as a whole. I would still like to come to events.
@ - SemiColon - You know it's not that simple. I have shoes - does that mean a 100m sprint race is also for me?

Fair enough, so the plan was to do an event at the Rock but they were booked out. You need to understand that with an event like Kyalami preceding the current one, we dont have funds to book and pay a deposit in advance for another skidpan/track as we are unsure of the turn out and what losses will be had.

Yes your other ideas are good but when we suggest a thread for events you need to punt it more then. Yes dyno's have been done to death and we hear you but you must also see it as a socialising day as well with guys who love everything dub. The last one at panics there were braais and fun was had.

I think you need to ease up and attend more events and try enjoy it more than be out on a rampage cos its a dyno day again.

I see both of your points ( Puni and VWicked ) I agree I should come off the rampage wagon and see it from your guys points too.

Next time round, I will definitely add more ideas - but maybe take some of mine for next month (Charity event can still be done - regardless of the weather )

I don't mean to offend anyone, I just think we could have done something else. VWicked, yes, Panic's dyno was a lot of fun last time round. (Braais, etc)

In all honesty, the Edenvale Dyno was a huge farkup, only 30 or the 120 cars actually went on the dyno before the rain came down, the VWCSA has always had 2 Dyno's per day, one in the Summer and one in winter. The Dubrun Dyno was a DBN event, we can not really skip a GP dyno cause there was one in Durban, also people mod their cars every month so power do change, how about we plan a breakfast run that leads to the Dyno that way the guys that do not want to run can still join in, have fun in their cars and meet up at the dyno day with fellow mates and a coolbox or two, enjoy the cars there on the day?

Rob, No offence but please create another thread or discuss in that event suggestions page, I'm sure everyone hates going through a 20 pager Event thread just to get the details. All we need on this thread is event details and a list of whose going.
If you not going don't even bother commenting, go start a thread called "Not attending Dyno day 25th of August 2012"

I understand where you coming from but look at the events this year

Jan - Brun
Feb - Dyno
Mar - Gymkarting
Apr -
May - hillclimb
Jun- Dubrun
July - Kyalami
Aug - dyno

We always had two dynos a year and well the last wasn't really a dyno day...its basically gone full circle bud, left for the year is yes a drag day, skidpan ...
