Buying Advice - Audi A1 1.6 Tdi

Post by Lvan91 »

Howzit guys? Looking at getting an A1 1.6 Tdi for my wife as a daily. She has fallen in love with the A1 and I would like to steer clear of the petrol/auto ones so that leaves me with the only diesel option.

Any advice? Things to look out for etc.
I’ve tried searching the forum but I’m clearly not qualified to use it because all I get is “phrase too common”

Appreciate any advice. Thanks guys

hi bud, its a decent car...engine is a gem. I have the Polo TDi - the Audi comes with more features and a few more bits and bobs but overall, its a great car. My niece has the A1 1.2TSi and the build quality of the car is solid and looks good too. Try ensure it had FSH and on or before 90000km, it must have cambelt done. Regular services and I do mine at 7500 or 10000km intervals. This car has returned 1100kms on 50 litres with intown only driving and mine is manual but it is very fuel efficient. The A1 i know sometimes come in DSG IIRC, should be a great combo. Common issues are injectors and dpf getting cloggedd, mine and a friends are higher mileage and dpf is ok till now...injectors (throw injector cleaner every few tanks and so far, so good).

Try check on the Audi clubs on Facebook for feedback also, this forum si very quiet for the last few years. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
Yes I realised it is rather quiet here but again thanks for the advice. The 1.6 tdi seems to be quite scarce compared to the petrol models. The search continues.

Yea it is, but the car meant for you will make its available soon….don’t worry. But the next one you should consider is the A3 1.6TDi, I actually wanted that one and they also hard to come by but such a gem. The go very well…enough power and also beaut of a car.
