VWCSA Presents: #DubRun2k19

Post by Sebz »

It's the moment we've all been waiting for...

#ThrowbackEdition

As the old dogs will remember, #DubRun started with the simplest of intentions - a simple drive down to the Autostyle show in KZN.

Later, it became tradition to attend a dyno day at the coast.

As things have evolved, many of the characteristics of DubRun have changed, and some even forgotten. This year, we aim to dwell on the nostalgia of more than a decade of motoring pilgrimages.

Thursday the 13th of June sees us meet at a secret location for one of the highlights of DubRun - TapeUp. Here we will prepare our rides for the journey and collect registration packs, which will have tape, official DubRun merchandise, and some other goodies.

Make sure you tick the WhatsApp group selection to stay informed on where TapeUp will be, as this will be the only place that info will be shared on the location.

Prizes will be awarded for the best taped up cars. If you, your company, or someone you know would like to sponsor a prize, vouchers, or something to go in our packs, get in touch with me via email vwcsa.events@gmail.com - sponsors' logos will adorn DubRun shirts as usual and we'll punt your business on our social media channels :type:

Feel free to go mad with vinyl, blue painter's tape, or anything else you can imagine to make your ride stand out.

Up before the sun, we'll meet at the Petroport on the N3 South (near Heidelberg) at 5AM and depart at 6AM. The biggest and best convoy in the country will then head to Harrismith, where we will stop for refreshment and a welcome stretch of the legs. Those from the KZN fraternity who would like to meet us here can expect us to arrive around 9:30 / 10AM, depending on how the drive goes.

We finish the drive entering Durban, where the rest of the day will be at your leisure. No final end point in Durban.

Saturday sees us meeting at TMT Performance for a dyno day! Here we will be free to dyno cars from 9AM-2PM - free. Your DubRun19 registration has this covered.

https://goo.gl/maps/xgQhRb8ZhhcsrYJC9

TMT Performance will also be where we will be judging TapeUp designs - so try not to remove your designs before we leave if possible.

The rest of the day is yours to freshen up, hit the beach, or do whatever else your heart desires.

The after party is something that we have been working on for some time, and we are proud to announce that Beach Bums is once again our prize-giving venue!

Party the night away, enjoy some Jam Jars, and make some new friends.

Sunday is the final full day of the Gas Motorshow, which looks to be way bigger than previous shows in the area, and with Big Chief (CrowMod) and Sean (Murdernova) from Discovery's Street Outlaws coming to the show, we had to make a stop here.

There will be motocross stunts, live music, and countless motoring displays and activities for the whole family. Parking for more than enough cars has been reserved for us, and once again, your DubRun registration covers your entry band.

Cornubia Mall (Gas Motorshow):
https://goo.gl/maps/w4vDrspCVGUHKuLZA

Monday is yours to leave the coast at your leisure, or stay a little longer and enjoy the salty air. And that's it! A jam-packed but relaxing DubRun with a sprinkle of nostalgia.

Dates:

Thursday 13 June - TapeUp
Friday 14 June - DubRun
Saturday 15 June - Dyno Day at TMT Performance and Prize-giving at Beach Bums (Ballito)
Sunday 16 June - Gas Motorshow at Cornubia Mall
Monday 17 June - Depart

Registration cost: R500 per vehicle

Included in the pack is your merchandise, t-shirt, entry to all the weekend's festivities, TapeUp eligibility (only registered DubRunners can win prizes), and a mix of sponsored goodies...

Registration form (remember to tick extra Gas Motorshow tickets / DubRun t-shirts / hoodies if required)
https://vwclub.co.za/forms/DUBRUN_2019_REGISTRATION.pdf

Let the official countdown begin...

Yes!! Will be joining this one again for sure!

6th consecutive DubRun for me!!

Just a quick question to Comm.

Are the hoodies gonna be a better cut this year?

Last year's Large hoodie felt like a Medium, but all the previous year's Large hoodies were perfect.

Awesome!

Yes, they should be a better cut. We are going to try order the ones we had in 2017, as we had no complaints on the quality, fit and retention of size that year. Also, they were very warm

The shirt supplier hasn't changed, so it should be similar if not identical

Registrations will once again be capped at 150, but as I'm sure you know from previous DR's you've attended, not every registration is taken by a driver and not every vehicle that joins us is registered... However, considering that we have a public holiday on the DR weekend this year, I expect that it will be pretty well attended. Registrations have been coming through daily.

I may possibly join this one, after 3 years of not joining.

Is the tape up going back to its original home this year or is it gonna be in the dark streets again, or is it gonna be in the East?

As we get ready to attend The Auto Show and lay some rubber down at Redstar at our Run What You Brung drag race event, here’s a little surprise for #DubRun2k19!

We’ll be making a limited run of 50 caps only, and these will be exclusive to DubRun registrants. Email dubrun19@gmail.com to order one or to register for the run! R200 secures your order for one.
