iirc

7 hex head socket(allen key)
size 13 socket ball joint
Size 30 socket for the nut that secures the cv to the hub
size 15 and 17 to remove rackends. be sure to mark the turns or your alignment will go out.
a hammer to hit the cv off
clothes for grease removal.
pliers for the locking clamps.

since you say accident, check if you control arm is not bent as well.
Cant see how the outer cv popped out as it is secured to the hub.

I'm unsure as to how you do cv joint removal but i have never used those.
Here's how i do it.
Take wheel off. Undo 30nut.
Undo pinch bolt at the bottom ball joint( 1 x 17 spanner. And 1x socket , extention and ratchet). Pull pinch bolt out.
Lever ball joint pin out of bottom of hub carrier, pull hub away and the joint will pull out the hub.
Nothing that affect alignment afterwards when you replace.

How i do it:
Loosen big nuts on hubs(30mm centre nut)
Jack up car and put on jack stands.
Loosend 17mm nut on lower control arm.
Push/kick wheel outward to get LCA out of its socket.

Loosen inner cv's, then remove outer centre nuts completely.
You can now pull out the entire drive shaft and don't have to work under the car and can move the shaft to wherever you want to work with them.

Control arm on left hand side was bent badly. had that replaced. right hand side outer c.v joint disconnected from the shaft and the boot tore so I've replaced the boot but no spare shop has the metal locking clamps so i used normal cable ties. Would it be a problem?

No problem at all. cable tie sometimes work better. Just check them regularly. Sometimes if you use a weak quality cable tie they tend to slip or break.

Thanks guys. Right hand side is done. However when I put the car into any gear i can hear the gearbox turning and it takes all gears but doesn't move. i suspect the left inner c.v has broken as the boot tore. how do i go about replacing that? Whats tools are needed and what needs to be taken out?

Thanks a stack. I need to get all this done before i can take it to panel beating.

start car and put into gear, check upfront and see which cv shaft is turning, the side thats turning is the problem, either cv broke or popped out

I'm not sure but isn't it just the left tyre that's the drive wheel. Otherwise it should still try to move and if it's the inner c.v thats messed up the shaft shouldn't turn.
Please do correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't really worked on the inner c.v before.

thanks

the wheel with the least resistance becomes your drive wheel, so with both wheels on floor the shaft with the broken cv should turn

Cool So if the inner C.V is broken the shaft for that side will still turn. I was unsure of that. Sorry
