Ever considered arranging a VW swop meet? People can bring all the unwanted parts/car etc and swop/trade/buy/sell. Swop meets are big overseas and VW is big in SA so it could be quite a big event. I saw a similar idea with wheel whorez hosting a wheel show with a swop meet.

That's awesome idea, am sure everyone has something they no longer need that someone can use or is looking for is better than going through classifieds.

Yip the aircooled VW guys do a yearly event called Ferdi's swop meet. Attended it once and man on man are there some rare parts available out there. People display their show cars, its like a parkoff with a purpose, if I could put it that way LOL

Bump

I would definitely attend to this if it can be arranged at the traders own risk.

Hi VW Club commitee members

Some suggestions:

1. Raceday events at for example ODI, make it either a VW club only event or invite other car clubs.

2. Track event get togethers for example at Zwartkops Raceway, the is a VW Driving acadamy now so we can arrange tickets with them, obviously is would be a limited amount, but drive in together and park in VIP parking section. Always did it when I still had my ST we would organize tickets through Ford Racing and have a fun day.

3. Breakfast runs to Harties or other locations

4. Additional midnight runs.

Let me know if we can assist with arranging events. The VW club has big potential. Can arrange a ST/RS vs GTi/R event. Still have accessto the ST form and connections

You are correct sir, the committee will be meeting up soon to finalize this, which should be done this week.

Hi Heinrich. Thanks for your input. We do a charity event every year though it is usually for an animal shelter. We will consider your suggestion for future events

Watching SIMOLA HillClimb 2024 on Youtube had me wondering, what happened to our HillClimb?
By far one of the events that always attracted good participation and spectators, despite the smell at the launching line.

One of the committee members can provide better feedback but I remember that attendance was getting lower and lower, costs for the day were rising and the admin required to get the permits was becoming more ad more onerous. Great memories from the ones I attended and ran, Subaru's parking in the bushes aside...
