Re: VWCSA - VKC 2019
This weekend saw the club head out to one of our favourite events, Short Track Racing at Laserfiche Raceway in Vereeniging.
We were joined by a wide variety of cars, from Jap to German, super cars and rat mobiles.
This made for some very exciting racing, especially in the middle classes. Our highlight was the battle between the M135i driven by Phillip and the GTS-T driven by Tony.
The short track demands driver skill over horse power, with Jono from Vilaca Racing showing that his stock 350Z could compete with 600hp Super cars, with a best time of 57.592, if memory serves us correctly, is the fastest time ever recorded at one of our events here.
Again, our club member Wikus, showed us his dedication to racing, breaking a hub during the practice sessions, driving back to his shop in Roodepoort, collecting a replacement part, driving back to the track, fixing the Caddy, and then recording his personal best time around the track, of 59.572. Phenomenal!
Another standout was Jose in his Revo Powered Fiesta ST, driving back from George through the night, to participate in the event with 1 hours sleep...
We forgive him for driving home with one the transponders still attached to his car!
The final standings were as follows:
FWD Class Winner - Macaire - Focus RS
RWD Class Winner - Jono - Nissan 350Z
AWD Class Winner - Derrick - Porche 911 Turbo S

While not in the groups for the day, it was a pleasure to see some bagged cars on track too, showing that they can track too... Check out the pics from club photographer Dylan Shaw Photography for some epic footage...

Thank you to all our competitors who joined us, it is always a pleasure to host you at our events!
And from me, Club Chairman, Ian, I bid you farewell.
It has been an honour to lead our club, and the memories and friends gained, will last a lifetime.
Peace.
Out.
