My Jetta 3 does not want to start pls help

Hi I am not a motor car fundi, but I can help myself if I have the right help.

My Jetta 3 has the problem that when it has been standing in the sun for a while it does not want to start, or if i have driven it for about 30 to 40 km.

Is there anybody out there that had the same problem and can help me solve it.

I will appreciate it a lot.

What is it fuel injection or carb?

Fuel injection.

But what I forgot to say was that it is the starter that does not want to turn. The ignition turns but it does not turn the starter.

Ok on the starter there is a red/black wire.Check if you get 12v there
when you unplug it and hold the key in the cranking position.

Also check if you hold the key in the crank position and you wiggel it if the starter turns.[had some were the ign switch bombs out]

No there is no 12V at the starter when the key is in the cranking position. The ign switch was checked by a auto elec, who said that it is fine.

Somebody mentiond he had the same kind of problem and that a auto elec. fixed it. The auto elec said that it is the fuel pump's relay that arched and he cleand it and it was fine. Now I dont know if that is possible or not and I do not know where to look for the fuel pump relay to check it.

Could this be possible and if so where do I look for the relay.

Hmmm.... lets see...

You have your fuel pump... at the back of the car...

And then you have your starter motor mounted right on the engine...

I seriously doubt that 2 entirely unrelated components will use the same fuse/relay...

Maybe ur starter is just fooked?

Have you still got the o.e alarm?
There is a starter cut off relay under the dash that cuts power to that wire.
That wire runs straight from the switch to the relay then to the starter.
So first remove plug at the switch then bridge the red and black[ign comes on] then bridge the red and the red/black [starter]
If car cranks and starts you know it's the switch.

Nasti - I suggest you read the whole post again.... His starter is not cranking the motor - now how on earth will a half dead coil casue that????

Ok what is strange to me is that it's only doing it (if I understand you right) if the car has been running for while ?

If so it could be a voltage drop caused by aging wires.

Am sorry brother I also have the similar problem as yours when driving my jetta 3 yesterday day it just stopped running the engine while I was driving it I don't know what's the problem cause when starting it just making the sound of starting and the engine doesn't wanna run, when I checked plugs they are fine and there if also fire the.

What's confusing me is that when putting the petrol on the injector I don't know what is it called to smoking it is starting right after the petrol is finished the it stops the petrol pump is pumping we tried to take off the pipes and the fuel is coming out the the pump is working I need help
