Note**

After you have fitted the radio, pop by a dealer and let them do a diagnostic to make sure that everything is fine.

I can do this in under 5 minutes now! :D
Just remember not to switch the ignition on while the airbag light is unplugged or the airbag light will stay on until you have it reset with a VAG.com

Cool thread.

Interesting to note that in the last pic, 4th cog on the gear knob is lit up.

I wonder if that is original VW, and if it illuminates in whichever gear it might be in.

Earlier Beemers came with something similar.

I would love to have a closer look at that gear knob.

I think that all the numbers are lit up, just from this angle it only looks like the 4. If it is the 4 thats pretty rad.

Do the GTI only have the vent thing? This must have something to do with the climatronic air con

My car just has a rubber bin type thing, but has the simple air con.

Howzit guys.
Anybody knows how to install a dvd player or PS2 to the OEM sat nav on a G5 Gti? It has an Auxillary function which has AV inputs, but not sure if the PS2 RCA's just plugs in or do I need a special adapter?

Yip, its only on the GTI as far as I know, cos that thing in the front is the light sensor for the automatic headlights. Not sure if any other models come with this feature and yes the vents are for the Climatic Control.

This is a great video tutorial on how to disassemble your dash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJDUYtr73dE&NR=1

VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT SWITCH ON THE IGNITION WHILE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT IS DISCONNECTED.

there are 2 small red lights situated above the gear knob, its where u adjust your sunroof and switch on the interior light... it comes on once you put the lights on for the dials and shines directly on to the gear knob that's why it looks like that.....

is this swop plug and play or is there other upgrades id have2 do???
