Spark plugs for 2L ADY?
Okay most people tell me to get BPR7ESZ an a few people sayBPR6ES.
I'm not sure which to get now, keep in mind I have a cam, head job etc.
I don't know if makes any differents if the motor is standard or modded.
What are the rest of you guys using that have the 2l 8v motors?
Any input would help.
Thanx alot

Re: Spark plugs for 2L ADY?
Hi
Which one are you currently using?
Carburetted citi golfs uses BP6ES (warmer plug)
Fuel injected ones run the BP7ES (colder plug)
Been running BP6ES since Sarel from 8 valve performance did the conversion from 1.6i to 2E (the golf in my signature). Only changed to BP7ES three weeks ago. Had no issues previously.
Hope this helps.

Re: Spark plugs for 2L ADY?
The 'R' in BPR7ES refers to 'resistor', not sure what the effect of that is.
Which version have you used up to now and why you changing?

Re: Spark plugs for 2L ADY?
@Fran I'm using bp6es at the moment.
I thought bpr7es is the same as bp7es, my bad.
I'll try bp7es or even stick with bp6es.
I just want to get the proper plug for the motor.
How's the bosch plugs?
You using ngk right?

Re: Spark plugs for 2L ADY?
The difference that 'R' makes we do not know. Could have something to do with radio reception/interference.
Yes, using NGK. Bosch and Champion seems to be less popular then a few years ago.

Re: Spark plugs for 2L ADY?
The r is to stop that tick tick you get on the radio yes. If you have good leads with resistors then it doesn't matter if you don't use th e R plug. If you have detonation issues with a 6 then swop to the 7 but it's better to rather have plug that cleans itself properly than one that is too cold and builds up gunk. So i use 6 until it proves to create issues. 7 tend to build up muck because they run too cold. Yes even if the engine is modified (short of turbo). But most people will simply change plugs at evry service which i don't do. I change them on condition so kind of care to keep them in good a condition as possible. Just my opinion.
I stopped using bosch after a series of failures on brand new plugs. Never had a single dead plug on ngk yet.
