VW Citi Golf 1.8i R

Post by J-10-M »

howsit guys,

I saw 2 of these R lines today, and i couldnt help wondering how much their motors differ from a normal 1.8?

I've been searching up and down on the net, and tried the search function, but its pretty hard becuase the 'R' just gets ignored! :)

Any way, any body have a link to the proper specs of the motor?
Do they use a different cam, conrods etc
what other internal changes do these motors have that differ from past 1800?

Thanks

Huh? I honestly doubt this. My car has the same engine as the r and honestly i think the restriction is the exhaust. Its smaller than the 50mm aftermarket ones i've seen and its noticeably smaller.

definately cammed though cos you can just hear that stuff idle.
it's definately quicker than a cti but i guess mp9 and management must come into play here too + branch and zorst. one things for sure, the R line mk1s run lekker robot to robot.

Who said anything about cti? he was comparing 1.8i and R line, they both came out same time IIRC.

The 1.8 R Lines were supposed to be the only MK1 with this motor. It was a sport model brought out by VWSA and was limited numbers. The kit was local and nice too.. after all said and done, the end result looked good.

However....

There was a supply problem for the body kit and VWSA decided to bring out another "limited edition" 1.8i citi. This motor is exactly the same in all aspects to the R Line, just the body kit is what seperates these two cars.

If you can find one in good nic and low mileage.... grab and keep!!
Daily Drive: 2007 Golf Velociti
De-trumped airbox
Wabasto soft-touch sunrrof
Koni Coil-Overs

Mods plans soon:
