2008 CitiSport Reving High

Post by SassyG »

Hi Guys, could some please assist me.
I have a 2008 citisport 1.4i.
Problem is start the car and starts fine, rev sits at 1000rpm.
Press the accelarator and the rev goes up, even to 6000rmp.
When released the rev stays at 3000rpm, if accelarated again it will go up but comes back and stays at 3000rpm.
If i disconnected the plug to the throttle body , its fine , a bit underpowered but the rev stays stable at 1000rpm and can drive it.

Can someone please help me. Thanks

Ok. , So I've figured out the map sensor on the throttle body is faulty. Some people say you cannot buy the map sensor only , you have to buy the entire throttle body. If it can be bought separetely , were can I get it?

There is no map sensor on the throttle body. The map sensor is attached to the intake manifold. You can buy it loose at goldwagen but I suggest you post a picture so that we can see if we are talking about the same thing.

Hi , sorry for the long story but I've been to three different mechanics so far , they all have different opinions. Ok , you 100% correct the map sensor is top of the manifold. With all plugs , the map sensor and the throttle body connector in, the car starts and idles very smooth. But when reved, the idle goes to 3000rpm, and stays there. Will rev higher but will not drop from 3000rpm. When I disconnect the plug to the throttle body, the idle get rough but does idle at 1000rpm with like a slight miss. When I rev it, it smoothened out and drives properly. The map sensor , while car idles if disconnected the car switches off. I have heard of another guys car idling and running with the map sensor disconnected on another post. My question is, could my map sensor or throttle body be faulty. Again sorry for the long story but 3 mechanics so at can't help me

Yes your throttle body can be failty but it could also be a fault in the management. As per my second post.
But you need to be able to do some diagnosis via vcds to find the fault.

Looking for help as well. I just installed a motor I bought from a private deal. Bought a decoded ecu as well. Car is extremely heavy on fuel, sounds like crap with a permanent misfire . Plugs blackened over fuelling . I did the the throttle alignment and adapted ok. Changed MAP sensor with that from a running vehicle. Any suggestions please. Its a 1.4i citi golf MP9

Hi , guys ok I've done the diagnostics , comes up fault on the throttle body. However I removed the throttle body , fitted onto another golf and works 100%. Would my next step be the computer box or is there a possibility there is a short in the wiring somewere. I've even changed the map sensor and does exactly the same thing. If the problem is with the computer box, will a dictator work? Also power and consumption, regarding a dictator , will it be better ?

So did you do the cross test to fit the other throttle body to that car..
Can also be the plug, a broken wire, yes a fault in the box etc etc.
Your questions abit dicktator depends on how good the tuner is. It's a how long is a piece of string question
