ABF piston with kr head compression ratio

Post by Baldwin02002 »

Hi guys, tried searching for this but could not find an answer. I don't know it this was discussed.

To cut my story short: My head was damaged due to over tightening my dizzy block hole plate/plug and i had to loose 8 intake valves and my pump shaft seized and that caused an intermediate shaft to seize and snapped a cambelt. This happened while changing to 2l 16v oil pump from 1.8 16v as the oil pressure light was a pain.

Engine is 2l ADY Block, ABF Pistons, KR head on mk2 GTS.

I had a Victor Reinz steel gasket + plus 3 layers stacked/added to it except the thicker plate ( 1 full gasket(1.6mm) + 3 layers - 0.2, 0.1,0.2 = 2.1 thickness compressed) and this was to get a compression back to 10 as ABF pistons had a slight lift on the block and did not want them shaved.

What is the danger of using a single 1.6 multi layer gasket as i will be getting almost 11.0 compression(according to Vortex )ratio on MP9 2L 16V map? MY budget does not allow me to buy two gasket and strip the other one for extra layers. Is there another alternative?

The car was running fine before without pinging and i was happy about the torque?

Thanks

Use this calculator to work it out. Take the required measurements and fill it out.

The problem is that you are guessing. You have to measure actual volume.
The second problem is that that calculator ask for piston volume. Having a protruding piston makes it hard to measure so you have to measure the piston at a known depth into the cylinder and calculate it back.

Thanks, did a calculation and it gave me 11.50 due to the dome on the head which will be good for throttles. Had to stack the gasket layers and it is up again.

Stacking gaskets x 2 to get to the 3,2 to 3,3mm range probably..... you will need to get the tuning spot on or the stacked head gaskets will say good bye, especially if the head gaskets are not from one of the top brands.

Hi guys, I am enjoying this combination. The torque feels strong. Who has a dyno around the south as i need to check the power before i move to 2.1 16v with throttles? Thanks.

Tell us, what did you do with the head gasket?
Stacked how many layers to make up a gasket to what size??
Have you tuned it or still using old map as used on the old head?
