Mk1 Caddy / Golf on 18" wheels?

Post by SpyII »

Does anyone know if this is possible? I know it sounds crazy but I am thinking of an Air Suspension Setup with 18" Rotiform BLQ's.... :screwy::what::sly:

Or should I just stick to 15"?

PS: I do want to drive the car regularly.

Any pointers will be appreciated.

Personally, I think it looks terrible, never mind how terrible the ride will be but each to their own...

Please, please, pleeeeaaaaase don't. I agree, get 15" or 16" rims. If you must, some 17" rims don't look bad on the citi's (sorry Nic/Stu) But 18's look stupidly big on a golofie. Please don't do it.

I'd say 16" is already pushing it, so definitely not 18". If you could get that rim in 15", go for it.

Thanks Guys,

Always good to know what other people think. I have 17" on my caddy but I'm not happy with the look, not achieving the look. so 15 or 16 it is

Yes, slower acceleration with the 17's and a heavier steering feel...

I was looking at 17" for my old Polo, but at $1025/wheel excluding shipping, customs, etc. I just couldn't afford it...

You are looking at upwards to 30k to land a set of 13" wheels here? (Assuming that 13" is the cheapest)

Yep, granted they are made entirely to your specifications and the centres are forged, their cast monoblock wheels are a lot cheaper from what I remember...

That green caddy reminds me of the Okies who drive around here in Cape Town with Hilux Bakkies lowered and with 18" - 20" rims on and the sell vegetables or bashews drinks.
Not the look a VW should go for.

There was a saying some where on the forum, 18s on a golf is like high heels, nice to look at but impractical to wear.

Like small and wide look.

It's all good and well you post that picture up but as you can see it has no engine, make me wonder what else it is missing to actually drive.

Even a MK1/Citi with 17's the drive suffers a lot.

I would say 15's but no bigger than 16's.
