Re: Polo 6R Thread

Post by georgie »

Has anyone had an issue with a fuel pump that does not turn off when the cars ignition is turned on? Usually it runs for a few seconds then turns off, but this one just keeps running.

1 Fault Found:
17012 - Fuel Pump Relay Control Circuit: Short to Ground
P0628 - 000 - -
Readiness: 0110 0001

Is this just a faulty relay or could it be something else?

Where is the fuel pump relay located on these cars, above the fuse box?
Which number relay is it?
Any idea what they cost?

Thanks

I noticed the same thing on my gf's car when tapping the accelerator. No fumes though, and petrol consumption is still very good so i was doubtful about the manifold being cracked. Also going have it checked soon.

Can this cause any damage to the engine?

No. If your exhaust is leaking your car will be heavy on fuel and you will smell the fumes.

I checked my gf's polo last night and its more of a rattle sound, and it only happens when tapping on the accelerator, not when accelerating smoothly. I doubt there is a hole/crack anywhere, might be something loose.

So this past Saturday, the reverse light on my Polo decided to pack-up. Checked the bulb and the fuse and they looked fine, so I suspect that the reverse switch might be faulty as the reverse camera also doesn't switch-on.

Any ideas on the price (parts and labour) to get this sorted?
Should I go with the dealership (car is due for a service in about a 1000 km anyways) or is there any other place you can recommended?
Could I buy the parts and DIY (PS. I'm a complete noob)?

Could the problem be something else broken perhaps?

Thanks
Just an update on this.

Turned out to be broken wiring just on the reverse switch.
Don't know how that happened, but all sorted now.

So just a small comment , really loving the PTSi , coming from a anti-vw stance this car just seems to impress me every time I drive it , economical , well built and great performance . Very flexible engine 120-190 in 36 sec in top gear at reef altitude. Avg consumption on a full tank is 800km+. Done nearly 30000km and never put a foot wrong.

Really happy with mine aswell. Only put 200 kilos on so far and it has quite enough grunt for what it is.

Will perhaps do software next year after the wedding. Just has a bit of a smell if I've driven it hard. Not sure if it's normal while it's new?

Price and how does it sound ?

Went to them when I got the the car , they didn't have anything in the plans for the PTSi, that's where CPI stepped in.

That I want to hear , I'm in benoni if you want to meet up.

I just got software from CPI in edenvale , Preshen came through after no one else had anything concrete , keeping in mind it's a comfortline(66kw) did 75wkw and 215wnm at KAR on a hot day . Did a little less at h&m night dyno but still impressive.

Been running it for 15000km, still a happy.

R4500 but was worth it when it was the first and was custom done as the stuff they had for the TSi on the system was the golf 6 engine and not our new mqb golf 7 based.

Don't know if we should start a separate 6C topic?

But I am having a odd issue. In the mornings on cold start up and sometimes when starting after work, it sounds as if the engine has a misfire and if I don't give enough gas when pulling off it has a major induction noise, almost as if its sucking air through a cone filter type noise.

Not sure if its normal or if anyone had this issue before?

Sometimes when hot it also has an intermittent dip while idling.

Take yours in , that doesn't sound well , the sound is a bit off beat normally and the intake sounds like a induction when you slip the clutch a bit . but the misfire thing is a worry might be plugs or ecu reading wrong

too many pages here to go through...but anyone have a 6R 1.6 Tiptronic here?

Please tell me more...how's the drive? I'm guessing it's the same as an automatic? I drove a colleagues Hyundai SUV once from Cape Town CBD to Hermanus...man it was horrible, I hated the fact it was auto and it felt underpowered. Yeah I know the Polo and the Hyundai are totally different but that was my experience...although I drove my father-in-laws E36 Beemer 320i auto, not bad at all.

Anyone that can offer input?
