Got and price of R650 @ Koenic and R750 @ SupaQuick

Thanks

The 9N3 Polo front shocks need LOTS of effort to be removed. Then you will need the spring compressors to remove the springs from the strut. Then you need to do alignment...

The rear's are easy.

It looks the same as a MK4. Single pinch-bolt holding the front strut into the wheel bearing housing. Loosen the bolt, expand the slit in the wheel bearing housing with a cold chisel, loosen the drop-link to lower control arm bolt and push the lower control arm down until the strut is free of the wheel bearing housing.

Yes a spring compressor will be needed to remove the spring from the strut, but wheel alignment shouldn't be affected because you are not loosening the subframe bolts, lower balljoint bolts or tie-rod ends.

But yes, it is a LOT of effort to do... took me the whole day to do on my .:R.

I watched them change my springs and LCA bushes - I am more than happy to pay for it, again if need be @ R600 or even R750.

Its not hard at all, dont even need to drop the control arm. Remove bottom bolt, separate it and the shock will come out. Spring compressors will be required for the stock springs but for the lowered ones you can get away with it by using some power. Rears will take ten min without even taking off the wheel.

As for alignment, the camber will become negative, and the alignment places will tell you that they need to bend the shock to fix that. I was against that bcos when/if you go back to stock then you will have + camber. The camber will be -1deg 30' or so.

I know this is almost 2 years later, but I got quoted R 1200 incl W/A @ Supa Quick, R 850 @ Hi-Q & R1000 @ Polokwane Springs.

The guys here are just freekin insane with their prices. I paid R1000 to get my LCA Bushes fitted by VW & they were the cheapest.

They must be smoking undies or something.

Interesting to bring this thread up!

I will be taking front shocks off this weekend to do shock mount replacements on the Polo. I have a spring compressor now (Thanks Brendan! ) and will get to work Saturday.

Everyone is telling me I will need to redo my alignment - this true?
