MKV 2l FSI - to decat or not
Hi guys
my exhaust is not sounding too great atm, so i decided to call powerflow for a quote for a ff exhaust.... the guy advised that i look at the cat first. he reckons at my current mileage (135k km's) my cat should be quite restricted already. when you add the cost of the de-cat it starts looking like an expensive exercise. i've always been happy with powerflow's work on my previous rides..... i just dont have experience with a de-cat? any thoughts, experiences on this would be helpful...
thanks in advance

Re: MKV 2l FSI - to decat or not
the guy said it will definately change the sound of the car too - i dont want it loud, because i spend quite a bit of time on the road daily. suppose the tone can be adjusted with the exhaust system tho.
didn't want to cut the rear valance for the tailpiece - anyone know what the gti rear valnce costs?

anyone got any more thoughts or advice? will a decat make a difference in the performance/economy of the car?

Trust me, remove the Catalytic Converter. It hampers the flow of the exhaust very negatively.
It won't be that much louder, maybe 5-10%
Save fuel, increase performance all for R300...it's a no brainer really.

I've done it on all my cars!
Did the caddy panel van yesterday, makes a funny noise now but goes better and only cost me R250 at kwik fit in randburg

I have a GTi valance and GTi back box with a silencer, decat, my car sounds lovely and no highway drone either.

Re: MKV 2l FSI - to decat or not
thanks guys ....i'm definately leaning towards getting everything done (pipe and decat) at the same time....probably leave the gti valance but loathed to cut the standard valance!!! thanks for the help. so this will be the first 'mod' since i have the car (2yrs) .... its a slippery slope and i'm slipping!!! next will be brakes.... maybe i should start a thread!
