Golf mk1 Cabrio starving for fuel

Hi all

I would appreciate some advice please.

The other day after filling up petrol,i took off and suddenley my car started jerking and losing power, I pulled over and the car then switched off and refused to start.

We checked and the car was getting spark, the fuel pump is clicking ad fuel is running to the front of the car, I pulled the fuel line off the fuel filter and can see plenty of fuel rushing through. It seems that this fuel is somehow not getting to the injectors/throttle. When I place a little fuel in the throttle body she starts and idles for a bit then dies. What could be the possible problem?

I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks

Pulled the line off before the filter or after? My suspicion would be blocked filter, especially if you pulled off the line from the tank to the filter.

I had a similar issue, and it was the intank pump. But you getting fuel to the front. Is it a Kjet system?

Once again severe lack of information to even hazard a gues. What pump?. What management - what fuel pressure etc etc.

Well the first thing I would do after just filling up is to check that they didn't fill with diesel or that there is water in the tank.
Once you have verified that the stuff in your tank will actually burn try and install a Fuel pressure gauge on the in line to the fuel rail and see if you have 3 bar there. If not the pump or the rail or the fuel pressure regulator has fialed. Once you have done the above test please revert with the answers and we'll go further.
