Howzit
Ok now i am sick of this.
*Clutch cable 3months old not stretched i measured with a new one!
*new clutch kit just put in with new release bearing!
Ok first the peddle stayed down once or twice, so i set the cable all good.
the following day the peddle continued to stay down but did not slip and the last few centimeters still disengaged the clutch.
Eventually the clutch stopped working. 020 gear box
What else could it be?
Clutch peddle not coming back.

Re: Clutch peddle not coming back.
Check where the cable mounts on the firewall, sometimes the cable go through the firewall, also check if the rubber and clip on the end where the cable connects to the gearbox is still in its place.

Re: Clutch peddle not coming back.
Cable does not pull through the fiewall on a mk2. Sounds like a failed perssure plate.

My first thought as well. Either one of those "fingers" broke or the springs ...panic-mechanic wrote:Sounds like a failed perssure plate.

Re: Clutch peddle not coming back.
New clutch kit. Pressure plate, release plate, clutch plate and throw out bearing.
I replaced everything thinking it was the pressure plate.
Been doing some research(broke-vw.com) very helpful site. I am going to replace the shaft that goes into the box, could be cracked.
My push rod only comes out about 23mm from the spigot shaft. The spigot shaft goes into the clutch about 25mm. From the face of the clutch to the release plate is about 44mm. Is 4mm enough to disengage the clutch?

Re: Clutch peddle not coming back.
The no9 could be cracked that moves the thrust bearing forward.
It will also make the pedale drop.

Re: Clutch peddle not coming back.
Already replaced. It turns out it was the cable. They brought me the wrong cable to measure mine with
