Citi Golf tail lights. New to Old. Conversion

Post by arsonist »

Hi guys.

I have a question regarding the new "round" tail lights off the 2005+ Golf 1 citi.

The plugs for new and old lights are different from my understanding. So I am looking at going back to the older style tail lights and wondering if anybody that struggled with the same issue.

I know you get conversion cables from old harness to new lights. Just a plug and play basically from Autostyle.
So what I want to know is do you get cables to convert from new to old?

Or will it be a case of cut and join? Being said is it as easy as cut and join or will there be issues I run into doing this?

Please let me know if you have done this and what my options are.

I don’tthink you will get a conversion plug kit from new to old.

Think your best option would be to get an old wiring harnass with the plugs you need and then cut and join.

There is an option to switch back and forth, i will snap a few pictures, its harness plug and play, no need to cut and join, i have done the back and forth several times.

Thanks, you would also need to source this if going from new to old, you can find these at a scrapyard near you.

Thanks for the Pictures and Good to know that they are available. I just went the old cut and join route because. I can also confirm both our lights worked after. With that cable, it will be an easy plug and play.

Glad you got it sorted bro, for me its easy to go between old and new with the harness, my car came standard with old lights, its 2006 model.
