Obd2 via bluetooth

Post by MR.C »

Hi guys

Was checking for dashcam apps for my phone when I came across few apps that you can view OBD info like fuel consumption, acceleration, etc...

I don't want to do any tuning, but would be nice to have an app that can track my consumption, and the interesting part is that I might be able to use the Bluetooth adaptor/dongle to get the data out of my 1.4 Polo Vivo which doesn't have an on board computer to view the various data.

Anyone using or can steer me into the correct path ? Locally these dongle sell for like R300, but eBay has them much cheaper.

Thanks in advance

Bluetooth ELM327 adapter which supports the correct protocol you car uses - which I don't know. You can get them from ebay. Torque Pro for Android.

They can clear minor engine faults and yes, they have some functions that can check basic timing pull, fuel consumption, water temps etc.
Much nicer to have for turbo cars tho

There is a guy in Alberton that sells them. VERY helpful. I went to get one and we went through all the different options and ended up getting a more expensive, but smaller one as it just fits better in the Touran. Also, if you have Apple, use the WiFi one. Android is better with the Bluetooth one. My suggestion is, take the car out there, speak to him about which one will work for you, let him show you the Apps etc. And then decide.
