Abf turbo install in an Audi A3 1.4tfsi

Post by Caellim »

Hi guys,

I am considering putting an abf Turbo engine in a 2012 Audi A3 1.4tfsi.

Has anybody done this conversion before and is it even possible?

like seriously?
You want to take a car, that still has relatively good value and reliability and absolutely just piss it away?

If you want a faster car, then sell the 1.4 and buy a 2.0t or bigger.

If you just looking for some extra oomph. DP and software.

If the current 1.4TFSI is toast, then go for it.

If the current 1.4TFSI is not toast then dont do it. Better buy the abf turbo and a citi to put it into.

Biggest problem is really going back in technology. The management system in the audi is so integrated into everything.

Yes it's possible with loads of cash
whether the car is in driving condition or not currently - The decision is yours

Will have to retain the audi management and run separate management for motor
ABF will need to be built for the addition of a turbo
Mounts , Drive shafts etc... will need to be fabricated

With the amount of money you going to spend , could've bought a S3

NB: Any project car is wasted money at the end of the day

What are youngoing to run the abf with - aftermarket? In that case half of thencar's features are going to suddenly disappear as almost all the control boxes are looking at th engine magement to activate them . Even if you let the currently stock management at least see an engine running signal it will give toms ofmerros and things like abs and all the other safety features will disappear.
About the last versions where you could getbaway with this was golf4.

Thank you, does anybody have an ffz gearbox laying around collecting dust? If so, how much do you want for it? Broke 2nd gear on my box.

I own pretty much the same vehicle bud, no offense but thats going back to the stone ages. You have a perfectly balanced vehicle with both relevant power out of a 1.4t and mad fuel consumption... on my a3 i get just over 1000km on 1 tank... i would suggest downpipe and software if your arse is really itching for more power. If that doesn't satisfy you enough then go a bigger turbo within the recommended range for the little 1.4t
