Big turbo mk7

Post by Socks199 »

Hi all

I have been looking at going the BT way.
I have seen some great stuff of the guys running the IS38.
I just want to know what els is on the market for straight bold on other than the IS38 ?

CTS make up a BOSS500 and BOSS600 kits for direct bolt on for MQB TSi.
APR make up a stage 3+ package using the EFR series turbos.

Also the Hybrid options from local and international tuners are all good turbos.

Is38 makes very decent power on the G7s. BT may be awesome but wheelspin will be insane.

Traction in a STOCK MK7.5 GTi PP is an issue. With over a hundred and fifty extra HP on an IS38 it must be insane.

7.5 pp?

Wasn’t the performance pack only pre-facelift?

Well not really i have been in a mk7 GTI with IS38 on and traction is not so bad.

Well if the software is written properly its a walk in the park.
We drove in the rain with traction control on and did not break any traction till 3rd gear.
It has to do with torque limiting in 1st and 2nd gear.

I did Is38 hybrid turbo on my Gti

I have made 314kw and 520nm on the dyno on pump fuel and low low boost.

We will be turning it up soon.
Just waiting for more parts to arrive

I am debating doing the is38 turbo on my 2019 Tiguan. What other mods are needed to make it beneficial? Don’t want to go OTT on the build.

About to fit to the car: JB4. Muffler delete. Intake elbow. High flow filter in stock box.

Possible upgrades with the IS38 turbo: Intake, intercooler and piping, DP. Is exhaust necessary?

What is the going price for a turbo and how common are they?

(Full) Exhaust is not really necessary. IS38's will come at a premium because every T,D&H will be looking for them for their GTi upgrades. As for pricing; a new IS38 from DarkArtz is listed at just over 23k. They are out of stock currently.
